Another reason in the mainstream press as to why you should read my book, Blueprint to Wealth: Financial Freedom in 15 Minutes a Week. You'll never hear the mainstream press talk about Market Risk (also called Systematic Risk) and going 100% into cash at times. It's the biggest advantage that us little individual investors have. Sure there's active management by large funds but there's also active management by individuals who have far more agility with our relatively tiny amounts of capital. I'm an advocate of long-term, low-effort, near-passive index investing, as this article points out. This can be completely buy & hold (and reinvest all dividends) or it can be near-passive timing of index ETFs - to go 100% into cash at times - to avoid nearly all of a large bear market to, over the long term, handsomely outperform the market indices, and hence nearly all active funds that have stay the course through ALL bear markets.
