Teaching

Annieand Myra's is a tribute to my two lovely grandmother's who taught me to sew.
Having made my first dress at the age of eight years old,I have always loved creating anything with a "needle and thread".
Anne was an elegant, wise and refined woman from whom I learnt not just about sewing, but a sense of elegance, style, and to always be true to myself
Myra was an amazingly self reliant woman, from whom I learnt not only a lot of construction techniques, but also the capacity to continue, even in times of adversity
I hope to do justice to these wonderful women.
I love to source vintage materials, feathers, trims and other "trinkets" and incorporate these into my designs.
This does mean that each piece is unique, as many items have been fossicked from many places over the years.
I also love construction and detailed hand stitching in the old-fashioned way in millinery and dressmaking for men and women.
In 2016 I will be beginning small group workshops: facilitating professionals to teach; and teaching by myself in dressmaking and embroidery, basic millinery skills.

I very much look forward to this journey together.

Planning a future dressmaking workshop...for those new to sewing, or wanting to get back into it after a break. Considering a basic dress with or without collar and sleeve variations. Pattern will be made in various sizes and provided on the day. We will arrange a pop-up shop for purchase of materials/habadashery on the day. Will be approx $350 for a two day weekend including lunch, morning and afternoon tea.(not including material). You take home a dress and a pattern for future use. A great way to spend a weekend with a girlfriend. Maximum of 4 participants for the first workshop. Wondering which dates may suit ...possibly between Christmas and New year?...and expressions of interest..
