Description
The Casino Rural Fire Brigade is a volunteer service protecting the community. Yorklea is located just south of Casino in the Richmond Valley Council area of the Northern Rivers. it covers approximately 140 square km or 34494 acres and it has 218 dwellings.
Our area is made up of cattle properties, chicken farms, greyhound breeders and trainers, orchards and private dwellings. We range from grasslands to bush areas.
Our station recently moved from our old home at the Richmond Valley FCC on Ellangowan Rd Yorklea to the new Northern Rivers Fire Control Centre at the old Casino airport on Neville Bienke Memorial Drive South Casino.
As most rural fire brigades we not only attend incidents in our own area but anywhere in the Northern Rivers area and sometimes beyond.

The next five days are forecast to be hot from 37 to 42 degrees. Even though some areas have had good rain these temps will dry things out quickly. If you have a permit to burn please check before you light up that they haven't been suspended. Follow all conditions, make sure you have a water supply handy and remember it is YOUR responsibility to make sure the fire doesn't leave your property. If in doubt leave it out and don't light up,

It is nice to see a bit of rain around but don't get complacent when the hot weather returns mid next week it will dry things off and fires will start to run again. Stay informed of the weather and permit conditions if you intend to do any burning and do so only when safe and remember to follow all your permit conditions.
The brigade is currently on scene at a grass fire in the Leeville area. If in the area please drive to the conditions slow down and stay to the left if going through smoke and watch out for our members and trucks,
