The Foundation's mission is to re-establish sectarian balance by urging Maronites and other Christians around the world to preserve their Lebanese heritage and regain their Lebanese citizenship. The Maronite Foundation in the World was established initially in Lebanon for the following reasons:-

- To help Lebanese around the world regain their Lebanese citizenship.
- To promote the benefits and spirit of Maronite affiliation and the Lebanese identity among Maronites of the world.
- To awaken Maronites to their heritage and consolidate their links with their Lebanese and Maronite roots.
- To lobby the Lebanese government and legislative body to take the necessary action to advance laws to assist Lebanese descendants regain their Lebanese identity.
- To help Christians around the world process their "vital events" such as marriages, birth etc.., in order to obtain their Lebanese citizenship and register them in the official Lebanese civil registry
- To sensitize Maronites around the world to their political, cultural, economic and social participation in Lebanese public life.
- To secure communication between the Maronite mother church in Lebanon and its children worldwide.
