How do you celebrate Australia Day? Homemade lamingtons were prepared today by our infants with lots of fun mixing, pouring and tasting! Meanwhile, our pre-schoolers have explored the Australian, Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous Flag, the flag colours and their meanings.

Transitions are a fantastic time for relationship-building and meaningful interactions. This week many children are starting in a new room, using a buddy system pairing existing children with new, is a great way to assist them to settle and feel comfortable in the new environment.

Today our Educators combined with our colleagues from Yass Pre-Kindergarten to participate in valuable training, reflection and professional development. This was a great opportunity to share ideas, knowledge and experiences and we are excited to implement these into our environments for the children this year. We look forward to seeing all the children and families tomorrow morning.

What an incredible response we had from families, children and educators bringing in gifts for the paediatric ward at Canberra Hospital. Today I had the privilege of delivering the presents to the staff who were overwhelmed with the generosity of the McKellar Cottage community. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.

Where has Summer gone? With the cold wet weather outside the toddler children decided to get messy indoors. Rainbow the Christmas elf brought a present for the children last night - Slime Baff! Slimey, gooey mess makes for a great Friday.
