Today I began a visual tracking program at one of the schools I am servicing. Today we worked on developing Visual Fixation skills (The foundation skill of visual tracking). Activity 1: Time how long the child can stare at the funny faces/ stickers on the end of a spoon, popsickle stick or straw. Activity 2: Placing the lady bugs at the child's eye height on the wall, the child is to hold a pen at eye height and then straighten their arm to place a nose onto the lady bugs. Encourage the child to keep their body up straight and return their arm to their eye between each dot completed.

These charts have always worked great in my OT sessions with clients! It is client centred and meaningful to the child. It's also a good idea to get the child to draw there own pictures and create their own poster to take home/ to school with them to use as a reference when practising there new coping skills.

School is back! I will be beginning prep screenings for Term 1 at the schools Limitless OT services: - Immanuel Lutheran College - Unity Catholic College - Pacific Lutheran College; and - Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic College Limitless OT provides free screenings offered for up to 5 children within each early learning centre on the Sunshine Coast. This is to encourage early intervention and treatment for children as research has shown that early intervention provides the best results!
