Dr Ashrafi is experienced and highly qualified Obstetrician Gynaecologist, she is passionate about women’s health care. She loves being part of the great journey of a woman’s life; right from early youth to planning to have a baby or winding down to enjoy retirement. She is a highly qualified gynaecologist with over 20 years’ experience in obstetrics and gynaecology which has seen her help women across the globe from Bangladesh, Iran, United Kingdom and New Zealand, before settling in Australia. Fatima has worked with Queensland Health since 2006. She has worked as a Senior Staff Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Rockhampton Base Hospital for almost 7 years. She has felt privileged and honoured to serve women living in rural communities through her work as a Flying Obstetrician Gynaecologist, which has recently come to an end, to begin her work at Private practice. Fatima believes that every woman deserves the highest quality of care and takes the time to get to know her patients applying her skills and expertise to provide the best possible outcome. Fatima’s primary practice is in general obstetrics & gynaecology. She has avid interest in teaching and mentoring medical students and junior medical staff as well as educating her patients. She is a senior lecturer and examiner with the University Of Queensland School Of Medicine, an examiner for the Australian Medical Council, and an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) Fellowship as well as Diploma examinations. Fatima is fluent in many languages – Besides English, she also speaks Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Persian fluently and a little of Arabic, Spanish and French. She enjoys reading books, travelling, talking with people and the company of her children. She believes that there is always room to grow and more to learn, she has recently taken up dancing lessons. She is highly specialised in providing a holistic approach to women’s pelvic health, offering a number of innovative surgical and non-surgical techniques in gynaecology.
