"QFES crews have attended more than 1800 bushfires since the season began on August 1. This is almost 80 per cent more fire activity than this time last year. The threat is likely to be prolonged with severe and extreme fire danger in some parts of Queensland. QFES has the resources in place to protect Queenslanders, but we also need the community to do their part. [...] As always we are asking people to take precautions whether they live in the bush or in urban areas. That includes obeying fire bans and restrictions, having a Bushfire Survival Plan in place and if travelling, planning ahead. The Rural Fire Service website [www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au] has the tools and information to help people do this. This has already been, and will continue to be, a challenging period until we receive decent rainfall across the state".
