BUSTED IN GREENVALE! A 36 year old man and 49 year old man from Broadmeadows have been charged in relation to multiple burglaries in the Greenvale area. Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on the 9th June. Investigators have released an image of some of the items stolen in hope that someone may recognise them. If you believe any of these items are yours and you can provide serial numbers / evidence contact the Hume CIU. A reminder to all tradies out there to clearly mark their tools so we can endeavour to get any stolen tools back to you as quick as possible. A series of townhouses were broken into in the Greenvale Gardens estate over the weekend. Dorrington Street in particular was targeted. Any suspicious behaviour or people attending houses under construction late at night to be reported to 000. Also many burglars are attending addresses and knocking on the door to ascertain if any person is home. When they do not get a response they try and gain entry. Most burglars do not want to come into contact with people in houses therefore try and ascertain if any one is home before attempting to gain entry. If someone knocks on your door and you do not believe that person has a legitimate reason to be there contact 000 or consider making an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

HEARTLESS ACT - HELP NEEDED! On the 11th May 2017 a burglary occurred at an address in Dallas. On this occasion precious war medallions were stolen from an elderly victim. Investigators have obtained a photo of the medals and released the image in hope that someone may know their whereabouts. LOW ON FUEL? Throughout the month of May a number of vehicles in Sunbury have had petrol siphoned. Overnight on five occasions between 26-May-2017 and 30-May-2017 an offender has siphoned fuel from vehicles on Macedon Street, Sunbury. Diesel vehicles have been targeted in recent times. Emergency services were called to Tullamarine Airport around 11.40pm last night after a request for assistance from an airline. It is alleged that a 25-year-old man tried to enter the cockpit and threatened the safety of passengers and staff. The man did not gain entry to the cockpit. The man was subdued and a safety plan was enacted. He is currently in police custody. Police want to reassure the community they continue to provide a 24-hour response at Melbourne Airport in partnership with the Australian Federal Police. Community Safety Fund grants - Community Crime Prevention, Victoria
Are you looking to address a local crime issue in your community? Right now the Victorian Government is inviting local community groups and councils to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to deliver practical local crime prevention initiatives. Projects that may be funded include: - security equipment and infrastructure such as locks, vandal-proof security lighting, security - screens, alarms (without video surveillance), fencing and gates - activities engaging the community in small-scale, physical improvements and upgrades to public - spaces such as streetscapes, parks and reserves to improve community use of these areas - education and awareness initiatives targeting theft of and from motor vehicles, theft of personal - property in public places, residential burglary and retail burglary. Interested community groups are encouraged to read the grant guidelines and discuss project ideas with potential local partners, such as Victoria Police, local councils, and other relevant local groups. More information, including the application guidelines, examples of previously funded projects and links to the online application form can be found at: www.crimeprevention.vic.gov.au/safetygrants Applications close at 4pm on Friday 14 July 2017. The grants are part of the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program which helps promote community safety and prevent crime in communities across Victoria.
