Which is how some sheets end up with a TC into the thousands. This is why the idea of higher TC equals better quality is not necessarily true. ****LETS TALK SHEETS***.*. What is thread count? TC refers to the number of horizontal & vertical threads per square inch. You count both lengthwise & widthwise. 100 threads lengthwise and 100 threads widthwise would equal a thread count of 200. However there is a maximum amount of threads that can fit into a square inch. Although the information is slightly conflicting, the general idea is that between 400-600 threads per square inch is the norm.
