If you're in the Melbourne area this weekend, we're at the Melbourne Orchid Spectacular with a selection of nearly 500 flasks of all sorts of hybrids and species. There is also a selection of plants. Look out for the sign, and say hi.

Large flowering Stenoglottis fimbriata just coming out of dormancy. One of the reasons terrestrial orchids are so hard to come by is that traditionally there has been little demand for them. Compounding this is that they are more difficult to produce in large numbers compared to epiphytes, and consequently people are unwilling to pay for the higher costs of production. From time to time, we'll post to gauge people's interest in certain terrestrial genera to see if it's worthwhile producing more of them.
