Flinders Fertility - Important Dates
Both the Flindersfertility Clinic at Flinders Medical Centre, as well as our new Flindersfertility Lab at TechInSA, will be open over the coming Holiday Season, other than the 3 Public Holidays in SA: Boxing Day on Monday, 26 December Proclamation Day on Tuesday, 27 December New Year’s Holiday on Monday, 2 January
MEDIA STATEMENT 25 October, 2016 Flindersfertility After some 6 months of careful planning, Flindersfertility is relocating it's Laboratory from Flinders Medical Centre to the TechInSA bio science hub at Thebarton. Flindersfertility has been working towards this move since March, 2016, and it is not a response to the recent power blackouts. Flindersfertility Chief Executive Stefan Moro says the new premises will be one of the most advanced embryology laboratories in Australia, constructed to meet the latest international quality and performance standards. "We have written to our patients and doctors with this news and are confident that the custom made facilities will allow us to deliver improved patient service, laboratory efficiency and even more secure storage of our patients' reproductive material in one of the safest, most stable and secure fertility facilities in Australia, strategically located central to major hospitals including the new Royal Adelaide and Flinders Medical Centre." "The move also sees the Flindersfertility Lab co-located with our strategic Pre-implantation Genetic Screening ( PGS ) partner, Reproductive Health Sciences Pty Ltd, which should also reduce the wait for biopsy results and assist our patients on the journey to parenthood." "Over the next 4 weeks, reproductive material will be safely transferred from Flinders Medical Centre to the new Lab facility by specialist medical transport. From 21 November, clinical services will commence at our Thebarton facility. We believe that this central location and it's ample car parking will be of further benefit to our patients," Mr Moro says. Our New Lab at TechInSA
From November 21, 2016, the Flindersfertility Laboratory will re-locate from Flinders Medical Centre (“FMC”) to TechInSA (formerly BioSA) the state-of the-art bio-sciences hub at Thebarton. For more details, please click on the image below.
Following the power outage experienced in South Australia as a result of last week's storms, we want to assure our Patients that cryopreserved reproductive material was in no way lost or affected by the recent power outage experienced at Flinders Medical Centre (FMC). Cryopreserved reproductive material is safely stored in liquid nitrogen and is not reliant on power from FMC. Sadly, some embryos were lost during last week's power disruption, but these embryos were at a critical incubation period prior to implantation - a small window of time when they are most vulnerable to temperature fluctuations. We share the deep distress of those patients affected, and we are doing all we can to support them on their continued journey to parenthood. Please be assured that Flinders Fertility utilises the latest technology for freezing and storing reproductive material, including a secure area for our storage tanks which are electronically monitored 24 hours a day. Our highly qualified staff also monitor liquid nitrogen levels daily. We sincerely apologise for any concerns our Patients may have experienced, arising from some media reporting of the events, and we can openly and honestly declare that Flinders Fertility Staff treat the reproductive material in their care as though it was their own ... treated with care, treated with respect and treated with dignity. If you would like any further information, or if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us on 131 IVF ( 131 483 ) as our Staff are always available to help.
