Interesting to read different perspectives.....
The Reserve Bank of Australia has cut the official cash rate to a historic low of 1.5% to boost economic growth - a reduction of 0.25%. Commonwealth Bank of Australia was the first bank to react saying it would lower it's standard variable interest rates for mortgages by 0.13%. The Bank blamed higher costs and tougher regulation for its decision to pass on only about half the RBA's official rate cut. National Australia Bank withheld even more of the official cut, reducing it's variable rates by 0.10%. Market watchers warned this morning that borrowers shouldn't expect banks to pass on savings in full if the rates were cut today - it seems they are right on track with that !!!
