Belle Vue is a wonderful school with a dedicated staff who are highly qualified and committed to ongoing improvement for all students. With a student population of approximately 200, Belle Vue is situated in spacious grounds in North Balwyn. The school draws its current population from North Balwyn, Kew and Bulleen communities. Facilities upgraded in 2010 in the administration area included a new office area, staff room, sickbay, student toilets, computer tables, lighting, airconditioning and additional withdrawal space. Other facilities include a library and a multi purpose hall. This year was our first in the new building whcih provides six classrooms, offices, toilets and flexible learning spaces.
At Belle Vue we believe children learn best when:
- They are actively involved in their learning
- They take responsibility for their own learning
- There is clear demonstration and expectation
- They have a positive self esteem
- The learning fulfils their own needs, purpose and interest
There are positive links between home and school
We consider ourselves very fortunate to have an oval, basketball court, a new synthetic grass netball court and cricket pitch, a soccer area and recently updated play equipment areas. Children also enjoy using our synthetic play area across the front of the school. There are many mature shade-trees, lawn areas and asphalt play areas.
Our school takes pride in its strong community atmosphere, which fosters a strong active partnership between students, staff, parents and the local community. Parental involvement covers a wide range of activities including: shared reading, fund raising, lunch days and sporting activities. Programs at Belle Vue Primary School are supported formally by a hard working School Council and Parents Club who are an important part of our school.
Belle Vue provides Before and After School Care for families requiring this service. The program is managed by CAMP AUSTRALIA (Email: bellevue@oshccampaustralia.com.au).
The Belle Vue Primary School vision is to ensure all students have the opportunity to become independent thinkers. We aim for them to be literate and numerate, to promote their health and wellbeing and to encourage interaction with others in a positive and caring way. The You Can Do It! Program is an important part of our curriculum and children are developing an understanding of the keys to success which are Confidence, Getting Along, Persistence, Organisation and Resilience.
Curriculum Planning at Belle Vue Primary School is outstanding, and a credit to our staff. Our dedicated team work hard to ensure our students receive a well rounded program. Physical Education and the Arts are areas of high priority. Teachers work well in professional learning teams to plan and support each other. Teachers meet weekly for professional learning based on the Principles of Teaching and Learning and the e5. Regular feedback on planning is provided by the Principal and teacher observations and coaching are part of our culture as we strive for ongoing improvement across all learning in the school. Information technology is a growing focus across all levels with interactive whiteboards being a useful tool that is used daily. We also have desktop and laptop computers that are used in many curriculum activities. In 2013 we will investigate the use of iPads. Our students actively engage in numerous sporting events. We also have two performance assemblies per term and a Mid Year Concert as a celebration of the talents of our students. We have an active Choir, a Training Choir for junior students, Recorder Group, Chess Coaching and Dance Club. A number of students participate in individual music tuition that is provided at the school. Tuition is available in guitar, piano and drums.
