Thanks to all our intrepid runners and walkers today - the sun may have been shining but that wind provided for very cold and challenging conditions. Thanks to the amazing volunteers who braved the arctic conditions - especially Tim out on the wall. We had tourists from the UK and Brisbane (Sandgate and Wynnum) and a special guest Kathy Rae who had to rush off and catch a plane - but I am lead to believe she has done every parkrun in NSW. Ballina Coast parkrun Event number 13 19th August 2017 This week 88 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 23 were first timers and 18 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 7 different clubs took part. Male placings: Andrew CROWHURST (VM50-54) (Unattached) was first over the line in 18:57 - 6th time in 10 appearances. Finn CRETHAR (JM11-14) of Byron Bay Runners, was second over the line in 19:24. Jacob DWANE (JM11-14) (Unattached) was third over the line in 19:46. Female placings: Kelly FETTELL (VW50-54) (Unattached) was first (11th overall) over the line in 22:56 - first appearance. Vicky BOSWELL (VW40-44) (Unattached) was second (13th overall) over the line in 24:08. Joella GRIERSON-JONES (VW40-44) (Unattached) was third (14th overall) over the line in 24:51. The three highest age grades were recorded by: Andrew CROWHURST (VM50-54) – 77.84% for the time 18:57 (first overall). Kelly FETTELL (VW50-54) – 76.89% for the time 22:56 (11th overall). John WICKHAM (VM60-64) – 76.29% for the time 21:01 (6th overall). The male record is held by James TURNER who recorded a time of 16:34 on 27th May 2017 (event number 1). The female record is held by Kirsten MOLLOY who recorded a time of 18:41 on 5th August 2017 (event number 11). The Age Grade course record is held by Denielle HILLS who recorded 85.40% (19:59) on 3rd June 2017 (event number 2). Ballina Coast parkrun started on 27th May 2017. Since then 609 participants have completed 1,401 parkruns covering a total distance of 7,005 km, including 338 new Personal Bests.
