The penguins have had a very busy week. We have had lots of practice balancing on different pieces of equipment, some that was a little bit tricky! We were able to use our gross motor skills, spatial skills and balance to create complex patterns of activity. Today we played with noodles which we discovered were sticky, slimy, wiggly and then coloured! They also tasted quite yummy! We were able to explore with our eyes, fingers and tongues! #riverlinks #childcare #australind #funatplay

The penguins have had so much fun this week! We have been exploring different experiences. The new blocks filled with pompoms were popular and we were able to stack them and knock them over again. We also tried to identify some of the colours of the pompoms. To help us with colours our educators set up some painting in the rotunda. Using several tennis balls, we were able to see different colours swirl together and make a rainbow. We were able to do this by tipping the rotunda from side to side. The other activity we had set up was with shredded paper. This was so much fun! We sat in it, sprinkled it through our fingers, and covered our friends as well! There is so much learning going on in the penguins room this week and the best part is its all fun! #riverlinks #australind #daycare #sensoryfun

Hi Everyone As vacation care slowly draws to a close we thought we'd share photos of some of the exciting incursions and excursions we have had. Ranger Red visited and brought a number of native animals for us to meet, there was even a snake. The SES taught us what to do in an emergency and Ruth from St John's showed us the basics of first aid. We got to apply bandages and put each other in the recovery position. We have also walked over the oval and had tennis lessons. You never know we could have a future Wimbledon champion in our group. #riverlinks #childcare #australind #excursions

The penguins have had so much fun today in the sandpit. We all had buckets and spades and began digging and then filling up our buckets. With the help of our educator we made some sandcastles! We also had a game of hide and seek with an animal in the bucket! Leonne showed us an animal and put it in the bucket then covered it up with lots of sand! It was so much fun discovering the animal when we knocked over the sandcastle! #riverlinks #childcare #australind #funwithsandcastles

Flights of Whimsy

Hi Everyone, Welcome back to Riverlinks. Its been lovely to see our families both current and new at the centre. Positions are filling fast, so if you require any extra days in long day care please give us a call. We are currently taking enrolments for before and after school care. Our centre takes and collects children from all primary schools in Australind. If you would like some information on this service that we provide or you would like to enrol, please give the office a call or come in and see us.

Today the seals made their own gum trees with Koalas for their Australiana corner. Using some bark and leaves they had collected, they decorated their trees. They then had a go at drawing a Koala. Some of the seals said they didn't know how to draw one. With some encouragement from their peers and educators they had a go and were all very pleased with the outcome.
