Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnership
Description
We are a local network of community and health organisations. We aim to keep people well and make the health system better for everyone. Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnership (GPPCP) is a voluntary alliance of over 30 agencies in the health, welfare, Local Government, community and disability sectors. GPPCP covers the 3 local Government areas of Northern Grampians Shire, Ararat Rural City and Pyrenees Shire.
Primary Care Partnerships (PCP's) are a State Government initiative of the Department of Health and Human Services and are unique to Victoria. A quote Debbie lives by is ‘Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible!”- Audrey Hepburn. Her advice to future leaders is to give it a go, what’s the worst that could happen? You might just succeed and have fun along the way. Congratulations on being a leader in our community, Debbie :)

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP Emily Anderson Emily is currently the Executive Officer of Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnership. She lives on a family farm in Willaura with her husband and two children, Emily is passionate about rural people and rural communities. She believes that everybody has the capacity to be a leader and create change if nurtured and supported in the right way for them. Emily has been involved in environmental, social justice and health and community issues for a number years and loves learning about people and what makes them tick. She feels its important to do what makes ‘you spark’ even if that means challenging social norms and stereotypes. Emily also lives with a mental illness which has challenged her at times but also made her stronger. She has learnt that it’s okay to be vulnerable, that everybody needs help some times and that through adversity comes strength and more meaningful relationships. A quote that inspires her is ‘She needed a hero and so she become one’. Thanks for being a wonderful asset to our organisation and the broader community 😊

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP Cr Jo Armstrong Jo was recently appointed as a Councillor for Ararat Rural City Council (Ararat Active). Jo wanted to help her community and ‘walk the walk’ and not just ‘talk the talk’. She never saw herself as a role model to others until a competent young woman told Jo that she was her role model. Jo’s advice to women wanting to unleash their inner leader is to speak with those who know you best and can help to identify your strengths. Knowing your strengths and weakness will help you recognise your potential and in turn, your inner confidence. Great words Jo! Congratulations on being a leader in our community :)

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP Jenny Greenberger Jenny is the Coordinator of the Stawell Neighbourhood House and has been in this role for more than 2 years. Her advice to women seeking their inner leader is to just have a go and don’t expect to always get everything perfect. Without mistakes we don’t learn and grow. Often when we worry too much about what other people think, we are quite wrong in our judgement. It is usually us being way more judgemental upon ourselves than others will ever be. Great advice Jenny! Congratulations on being a leader in our community :)

She has been Vice President and on the Board at East Grampians Health Service since 2013. One quote Heather lives by is; ‘it is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself’ (Eleanor Roosevelt). Heather volunteers in her community to make it the best it can be, not only for her, but for others as well. She believes it’s up to individuals to step up and fill gaps or create opportunities that Government and agencies can’t. She also believes local leaders are important to advocate for and improve their communities. Congratulations on being a leader in our community, Heather :)
