The beginning of spring is an important time of year for bees. This is when new queens are born which will create a divide in the hive. When this happens it can scare one of the queens along with some of the bees out of the hive creating a swarm. These are seen generally in trees or around the eaves of houses and are how new hives start.

Had the opportunity to do a house call in Applecross to help a friend set up their flow hive. We relocated some bees from a compost bin to their flash new home! It took us a couple of hours and we are very interested to see how the flow hive works over the next couple of months!
