Excitement is building at ASSOA this week as Swim Week, our final In-School week for the year is fast approaching. The staff are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our students and their families next week. Some highlights of the week will be the Townies v Bushies Cricket match 4.30pm on Monday 5 December hopefully at Head St Oval. This is always a great afternoon and spectators and the ASSOA cheer squad are very welcome. Then there is the Student Leaders Disco on Tuesday 6 December at Braitling Hall from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. The theme is the '80s so we expect there will be a lot of crazy hair arrangements. All ASSOA students from Preschool to Year 9 are welcome. Younger siblings must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $5.00 entry fee which includes pizza, fruit box and a zooper dooper ice block.

We were delighted to welcome a delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and their international visitors to the School and Visitor Centre on the 14 October. By all accounts, the delegation thoroughly enjoyed their informative visit and were appreciative of the time taken by our School Principal Mel Philips and Visitor Centre Manager Jen Standish-White who showed them around. We look forward to welcoming in the future their DFAT colleagues as the delegation said that the School of the Air is "well worth a visit." Photograph courtesy of Jarrod Jolly.

It's always a treat when we have visitors from far-flung parts of the world....like Peter Bochnik and his wife Helga Langer who are currently sailing around the world in their catamaran. They'd berthed in Darwin and had travelled down to the Alice and popped in to see us at the Visitor Centre earlier this month. Gentle sailing!

It's all been happening at the ASSOA Visitor Centre. Last week some hardy visitors with their Citroen 2CV`s travelling around the Territory on RAID Arnheim 2016 popped in. First in were John Parsons and John Wyers from Melbourne; with uncle and nephew duo from the UK, Rob Boyce from Brum and James Boyce from Herefordshire. Then later in the week David Rogers from Frankston VIC and Howard Moses from Freemantle in WA visited in their 1983 Citreon 'Lulu'. We were as fascinated with their vehicles as they were with our school!
