It's starting to get very hot, please remember your pets on these hot days. Remember to walk your dogs early in the morning or late in the evening, check the footpath and road before you allow your dog to walk on it, if it's too hot for your hand it's too hot for their paws. If you keep your cats and dogs outside, make sure that they have access to fresh cool water and shade and when possible bring them inside out of the heat. Don't forget your pet rabbits and guinea pigs on these hot days, if their enclosure is outside make sure it is in the shade and they have access to a cool area in their enclosure. If you are concerned that your pet is suffering from heatstroke, remove them from the heat, apply cool wet towels and take them immediately to your closest vet. Let's keep our pets cool and safe this summer.

This little guy is George. He saw Dr. Chris Tuesday afternoon for his second vaccination and was adorably cute because he had his favourite toy (his teddy bear) to comfort him when he got his vaccination. Such a brave puppy.

It's been a big week for Frankie! Earlier this week Frankie the kelpie cross came into the clinic after his owners suspected he was eating rocks. Frankie has a history of rock eating and he was very sore and feeling sick. We took some x-rays of his abdomen which confirmed that he had two rocks within his digestive tract. Frankie was kept in the clinic overnight, but the next day only one of the rocks had passed through. The other rock had to be surgically removed from his stomach. Frankie is now recovering from his surgery, feeling a lot better and very happy to be back at home with his family :)
