Says Phingsaliao from Laos: “My academic life has commenced in the Kaurna Land! After getting away from academics for many years, it is quite difficult to settle down with university again, especially with the international and high standard university. However, when standing at this point, I have to successfully pursue my degree within two years starting from today. I am now at Flinders University on the Kaurna Land, South Australia.” (PS The Kaurna are the traditional (Aboriginal) owners of the land on which our University is built)

IAP S2 2017 Photo contest

Says January from the Philippines: "Beyond Lenses This photo is taken in my room/house by my friend Agnes Ng from Flinders University. I decided to submit this photo because this represent me a lot and my study here in Australia. My wall where I have my schedule(I do this so that I will always be reminded of what I have to do), my family photo (my siblings and fiancé who are my inspiration in every journey I have), my students’ and friends' photo from the Philippines. Further, as my usual practice, apart from putting it on my journal, I also paste on my wall the photos of my new friends, church mates, and the new experiences I have in Flinders. This was taken after my IAP session (29th of June). I was so blessed that my friend visited me and took this picture. The title of this photo, beyond lenses, emphasize my journey under construction. Every person has its own story, own motivation and own journey. So I want to own my Flinders journey through the photos I will be posting on my wall. This will be a reminder for me of God's grace and goodness through His angels here in South Australia. I still have a lot of space to fill. More pictures to take and paste without forgetting the very reason why I'm here-learning. So this is my picture, a picture that looks forward beyond academic and cultural engagement. A picture that promises learning and collaboration. And a picture that ignites inspiration. @FlindersUniversity #AustraliaAwardsScholar #LearnforthePhilippines "

They invite everyone who is keen to come along, especially our Semester 2 starters who are doing their IAP at the moment. Just 'bring a plate' - you'll remember what that means from our "How to be your own cultural interpreter session" :-) See attached program (thank you, Khokan, for organisation!). Hope you all have fun! I look forward to seeing the photos :-)

Outing to Hallett Cove beach

Some of our S1, 2017 Australia Awards scholars and their families took a trip to beautiful Hallett Cove beach and shared a pick-nick. Thank you so much, Khokaneswar for sharing! Read what he has to say: "Get together of Australia Awards students and their family members. We shared multicultural snacks as well. We always believe IAP is our family, we are family members, and Flinders University is our guardian. After IAP this is the our largest gathering."
