Last Sunday saw another milestone reached in the development of Riverside Miniature Railway - the closing of the concrete trackbed for the Phase 1 loop. This is an incredible achievement by our members, particularly since the first section was only cast in mid-March this year. Keep watching to see how the railway develops over the winter period.

Ideal Christmas gift!

Last Sunday we were really pleased to welcome a special guest to our railway, Santa paid us a visit to meet some of the fantastic children from St Neots, 120 of them in fact. Our members, joined by an army of elves, really enjoyed ourselves and we hope that all of our guests did as well. Thank you to everyone who joined us to meet Santa last weekend for helping make it such a magical day. Have a fantastic Christmas everyone and please come back and see us again when we re-open next Easter.

It was very odd on site today, we all know there is loads of wildlife on site so we hear the sound of birdsong, the crashing around of squirrels in the trees, but today there was something else; we all heard it - a sort of jingling sound like distant sleigh bells, very strange................

There have not been many posts recently about on site activities, but there has been a lot going on. While plans were being drawn up for Christmas and the 2018 season the regular working parties have been hard at work progressing works on the track formation and trackwork itself. Passengers on our last running day were lucky enough to experience a sneak preview of what the first loop will look like beyond the 'stop' board. We can now reveal that only the level crossing remains to be installed to complete the phase 1 loop, at least the concrete foundation. The picture shows the final curved length of formation that was constructed this week by our unbelievably hard working 'Wednesday Gang'. As always new members are very welcome so if you would like to be a part of our friendly bunch of volunteers please come along and find out more !
