Wick Lifeboat has been involved in two incidents this week. Thankfully none of them serious as it turned out. 1st incident was to assist Police Scotland in the search for a suspected missing person, shortly after the search commenced the person was found safe and well on land. 2nd call out was to a pleasure vessel that had suffered mechanical problems shortly after leaving the harbour. The lifeboat was tasked to tow the vessel back to harbour, however the sole crewman had managed to effect a repair and managed to make back to port under the vessels own power.

We would like to thank the Dounreay Employees Charity Fund for their kind donation of £300, which was presented to us at our recent Harbour Day by employee Alan Farquhar. This sum was matched by Unite union, bringing the total to £600. Many thanks for choosing us to receive these donations.

A big thank you to everyone that turned up to make Wick Lifeboats Harbour Day such a huge success last Saturday. Money is still being counted but it looks like around £9,500 was raised for the lifeboat. An amazing total, which reflects the tremendous support we receive from the community, be it general public, businesses, local fishermen, etc A special thanks to all the visiting ( Soothsider) yachts that attended the event. This year there were 31 visiting vessels there, which greatly adds to the spectacle. We hope you all enjoyed the weekend as much as we appreciate your efforts in attending the event. Hope to see you all next year. Finally, to the Lifeboat crew & Fundraisers, you spent a lot of hours pulling all this together and made the event a special day.

Wick lifeboat was called out at 0900 this morning after the creel fishing vessel Delta Dawn ran aground on a shoal at Noss Head. The vessels distress was also picked up by other vessels in the area, one of which skippered by Michael Kuczynski managed to get a line aboard the vessel and then passed it to the lifeboat on arrival. The lifeboat then managed to pull the vessel clear of the rocks and made way back to Wick where the vessel was lifted out by crane for a damage assessment. Photos by Michael Kuczynski.
