Mr Pavey spent Wednesday afternoon speaking to the children about the work they do in ICT lessons. He was particularly impressed with the children’s understanding of staying safe online. All the children, including the Reception children, knew that it is important to look after themselves in the virtual world. The children could explain, in detail, the sorts of risks they face and could identify how they needed to behave so as to maintain their safety. It shows how well school and home, work together to safeguard our children. For more information about keeping your child safe online, this NSPCC guide and the video below provide some helpful conversation starters and what to look out for. Guide: http://bit.ly/2pA4wIs

The safety of our children is paramount. The school paths and entrances will be cleared as they were yesterday to ensure children are safe when entering the school buildings. We have extended the registration period to allow for extra time getting in to school. We accept that for some parents getting in to school may be extremely difficult, please do call the school office if this concerns you. As a school we have a duty of care to our children and a duty to provide their education, which is why we are doing all we can to do both. The children that attended school yesterday were able to enjoy their lessons and enjoy the snow and we hope for the same today. Children are welcome to come in to school in their World Book Day outfits, please also bring extra warm clothing and accessories. We look forward to seeing you all this morning. ❗️Please note parents/carers have the right to decide whether or not to send their child to school. Fines are only considered in extreme circumstances and only if there are over 5 days unauthorised absence in a 12 week period. All cases are looked at on an individual basis. The school has a duty to open if it can and parents/carers are responsible for deciding whether or not to send their children in.
