I was born into a hunting family in 1985, and quickly thrust into a very horse orientated lifestyle. While loving the country life I somehow excelled at school and left with three top grade A levels. I was somewhat unstoppable in my enthusiasm for hunting and riding. After school I had a seasons point to pointing where I was awarded the Midland Novice Championship.

My working life started as Pupil Assistant to Sir Mark Prescott Bt for two years, where I was lucky enough to have the responsibility of looking after some top horses, such as Confidential Lady, Sir Mark’s first classic winner. The theme of good horses continued at Mr Ed Dunlop’s where I saw out Ouija Boards days, before moving forward in my ambitions to the East Board of the States as Assistant to Christophe Clement. After an eighteen month stint Australia was my next port of call. Here I trained Murray Baker’s Australian string of six horses taking home well in excess of AS$1.2million. After another small stint back in the states during their harsh winter, I took the plunge and set up what is now Coles Racing Limited.

I started my training career with just three horses two years ago which has lately grown to a string of 20, including horses from some of the most prolific owners present and past. In the last two years we have had 15 winners and 35 placed horses, including a runner at Royal Ascot that became Stakes placed.
