Just to lure some golfers our way... We are five minutes from one of the most sought-after courses in Scotland at present - Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club. This is a photo of our 17th hole. Down to the right is the opening hole with the roof of the clubhouse showing centre left. Taken in summer to show how beautiful life can be. Winter golf is also very enjoyable here

Just a couple of weeks to go before we shut up shop for the season and head off to Greece to meet up with INSEAD contemporaries for a 10 day tour. Meantime we had a group staying who were doing light aircraft flights locally and flew over the house. The resulting photo shows Roth Ach almost dead centre. See also photo taken at 5.00 in the morning from our kitchen window last Saturday. Guests regularly comment on the beauty of the location and the views we enjoy

A view of Roth Ach from the north (the cream-coloured house below centre-right). In the background is Ormonde Hill a former stronghold - an easy stroll from the house along the shore. This is where the Duke de Moray gathered troops in 13th century to support William Wallace in one of his 'disagreements' with the English. The castle was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in the 1600's

As we begin to take bookings for 2017 (commencing Easter and carrying on to end of August) the average score for 2016 over all categories we achieved from Booking.com guests reflects how much people love the house, the Black Isle..... and Val. I keep myself to the kitchen as much as possible as she is (possibly) the more caring and prettier of the two of us. I do make terrific potato scones however! We look forward to welcoming more guests from all over the world this year and showing them the delights of this corner of Scotland

Garden now looking very spring-like and colourful. Lovely to walk down our woodland path in the evening sunshine. Lots of guests now arriving and showering us with £20 notes thus preparing us for next season's round of holidays. January sees us in SriLanka on a 14 day biking expedition. Thank you dear guests! We try to make it a good experience in exchange...

Another stunning sunrise from our house a couple of weeks ago. The sea has been like the view shown in the main photo for several days now (cold though!) Looking forward to opening on 2nd June for 4 months. Quite a few bookings already in place

Our 4 month stint as a guest house from June to September last year produced an award from Booking.com with an average rating of 9.8 of which we are rather proud. We'll be open this year - same months so hoping for some more nice and interesting guests to share the delights of the Black Isle with. We can be contacted through the website and booked using Freetobook or Booking.com
