The unique hostel in the capital of Silesia, designed by young designers. Each room has a Silesian souls. Seven rooms, seven designers from Katowice, seven A last few years have seen a resurgence of popularity for everything silesian. Up until recently bringing up to mind only coal and pollution, for a time the region fights these stereotypes fiercely. Boutique Hostel Patria follows that very trend, being at the same time the most interesting and bold designer projects in Katowice.

Boutique Hostel Patria is one of the kind in Silesia. In the heart of Katowice, city once synonymous with dullness and hopelessness, sprung a place full of colour and creativity, based on current European trends. A place which stands out not only with it's interior decoration, but also it's homely feel and traditional Silesian kitchen, so valued by our guests. It could not be any different since the owners are Patrycja Walter, silesian food designer, the founder of now closed, but cult bistro Cyferblat and Marcin Strzyżewski, Katowice's restaurateur resposible for such places as Akolada situated in the Academy of Music building and Za Kulisami, right next to the Silesian Theatre.

Boutique Hostel Patria stands out with it's approach towards the room design. The founders cooperated with silesian designers and artists, giving them complete freedom. There was only one condition: the interiors must refer to Katowice and Silesia. That has brought seven totally different rooms, sometimes surpring with their boldness (like the room created by Matylda Sałajewska), creativity (like the Musk Collective Design room) or elegance (like the room designed by Bogdan Kosak).

First things first, though. To design the hostel rooms were invited: PPPracownia, Musk Design, Wzorro, Matylda Sałajewska, Pracownia Bro.Kat, Saffa and Bogdan Kosak. Each of them were given a specific budget, time and a reassurance that event the most insane idea is going to be implemented. Thus were created:

The first room, designed by PPPracownia (www.pppracownia.pl), has the main element of vintage doors taken from old silesian houses that make the bedhead. Above them hangs the „family” portrait, with the designers dressed in traditional silesian outfit. Bed spreads are made using the classic fancywork technique by a designer from Bytom. Additionally, exactly as it once was in Silesian rooms, there is an icon of the Holy Mother hanging on the wall – in this case from Licheń. The whole is complemented with furnishing from the „ta rura” series, designed by PPPracownia exclusively. On the bathroom wall there is a reconstruction of a forgotten pattern, made with an old paint roller which went completely out of use long ago.

The next room is a perfect place for those that visit the city for the first time. Young designers from Musk Collective Design (www.musk.pl) made the Katowice's main tourist attractions the room's leitmotiv! The room is golden-beige-black of colour, as for the calm planning of your next steps in sightseeing the wondefully interesting city – especially convenient is the fact that the hostel is situated nearby the Route of Modernism – one of the kind in this part of Europe. The room is so desinged that it is the most convenient for those willing to stay for a longer period of time.
