SCHOOLBOY/GIRL WEEKEND MATCH DETAILS: The clubs U11 panel faced Geraldines AFC in Garryowen on Saturday morning, both sides used their respective panels extensively in a most enjoyable contest. Our panel: Riain O'Shaughnessy,Sean Madden,Logan Ryan Heffernan,Jamie Enright,Scott Tubridy,Sean Holland,Alex Hartigan and Oisin Mulhull. The U13 "B" squad faced Janesboro at home over the weekend,2-0 up at the interval,we ran out winners by seven goals to three in the end, against a Boro' side who played with just nine players throughout. It was a very good performance by all of our squad in their first outing since the 2nd of December last. Best on the day were Ben O'Callaghan,Grace McInerney,Callum Kiely,Jodie Griffin and Jibral Sheehan. Our scorers: Joey Deegan,James MurphyJodie Griffin {2},Tony Clarke,Cian Power and Troy Cahill. Lineup: Mikey Sheehy,Grace McInerney,Jibral Sheehan,Callum Kiely,Cian Power,Tony Clarke,Ben O'Callaghan,Jodie Griffin,Kian O'Brien {vice captain},Joey Deegan and James Murphy. Back up squad: Troy Cahill and Sean Horrigan. After a long layoff our U13 Premier team were back in action, facing a difficult away trip to Pike Rovers AFC on Saturday last.We showed some signs of the effects of not having had any competitive games for quite some time, but settled into the game after ten minutes or so.We took the lead when Aaron Considine drove a close range effort under the opposition keeper, and although we were well in the game thereafter,it was the green and whites who netted next to level matters. We regained our lead though Jamie Hannon, who latched on to an inch perfect through ball from Callum Murphy to finish in style. The home side were on top for a sustained period after that but could find no way past a determined defence. We made sure of all three points late on when Aaron Considine grabbed his second of the game with an audacious lob from out side the penalty area. All involved played well on the day, with eyecatching performances from Aaron Considine,Jenna Slattery, Josh McCarthy and a MOTM display by Callum Murphy. Team: Conor Browne,Jake Griffin,Jenna Slattery,Nathan O'Shea,Callum Murphy,Blake Campbell,Mark Ward {Captain},Josh McCarthy,Jamie Hannon,Matthew TePou and Aaron Considine. Substitute: Scott Grant Our U15B team also tasted success on the local front, when they entertained Regional United in the 'Green. Kudos to the hardworking committee as the playing surface was in excellent condition despite the weather that we have endured for the last number of weeks. We began this game well and deservedly took the lead inside five minutes when a fine ball by Sean Whelan witnessed Lee O'Gorman show the Regional defence a clean pair of heels before finishing clinically. Some arctic like weather conditions that necessitated the game being brought to a halt temporarily made life difficult for both teams, and with chances at a premium, the score remained as is at the short whistle. Shortly into the second half we made it 2-0 when a fantastic looping effort from Sean Rice sailed over the keepers head for a goal of quality. Our opponents reduced the deficit to a minimum soon after with a fine effort.Regional to their credit, battled away, but by now our lads were on top,and added two more goals from the outstanding Jamie Hogan,Evan Barry netted the final goal of the game with a close range finish, leaving the final score 5-1 in our favour. To mention any individual would be unfair,as each and every person played their part in the victory. Well done lads. We lined out as follows: Josh McCarthy,Luke Parker,Eoghan Kelleher,Anthony Byrnes,Max Kwietnieska,Lee O'Gorman,Sean Whelan,Sean Rice,Alex Bourke,Craig Casey and Evan Barry. Substitutes: Jamie Hogan,Igor Czarniak,Aaron Vaughan and Colm Leo. The clubs U15 Premier squad had a day to forget, losing by seven goals to nil on the all weather surface at Aisling Annacotty. We started with: Keith O'Brien,Billy Molyneaux,Gary O'Halloran,Guy Vigurs,David Madigan,Shane O'Brien,Leonard Plunkett,David Curtin,Adam Quinn,Kyle Tierney and Luke Ward. Reserves: Pearse Shields,Brian Dillon,Fahid Rathman and Toritse Ede. JUNIOR AND YOUTH TEAM MATCH DETAILS Our youths were first into action last weekend, they faced Avenue United of the Clare League in the quarter final of the coveted Munster Youths Cup in Ennis.Unfortunately defeat was our lot on a day when absolutely everything that could go wrong did.A decent performance in the opening period saw us create some four or five gilt edged chances, all of which were spurned. On any other day we could easily have had a healthy lead going into the second half.Instead we found ourselves 2-0 down, our hosts converting the only two chances of note that they created in the opening half. The Clare side extended their lead following hesitation in our defence that allowed them to convert,we pulled a goal back, making a game of it at 3-1.To compound matters we were subsequently reduced to ten players.Avenue tacked on two more before we scored the final goal of the game, leaving it 5-2 in favour of our hosts. Our scorers on the day were Mark Gallagher and Gary Higgins. A disappointing result particularly given the amount of chances that we created, but failed to convert on the day.I am sure the players will work hard to get our season back on track in the coming weeks,as there are still titles to play for. We commenced: Eoghain Sherlock,Donal Organ,David Thompson,Josh Considine,Alex Kiely,Adam McNamara,Danny McCarthy,Gerry Higgins,Mark Gallagher,Ross Mitchell an Eoin Quigley. Replacements: Liam O'Sullivan,Billy Batjargal,Ciaran FitzgeraldJoe Kavanagh,Joey Herbert and Cian O'Brien. Our second game saw our Premier team make the short trip to Shelbourne Park to take on Ballynanty Rovers in a Premier league fixture. After an entertaining game it was honours even at full time.An uneventful first half saw both sides cancel each other out with little chances of note created.Balla' took the lead early in the second period but we responded with a goal of our own not long after, leaving the final score 1-1.Overall a draw was probably the fairest result given the way the match played out.Our scorer on the day was Liam Byrnes with a fine finish. We started as follows: Richard Ryan,Liam Byrnes,Craig Madigan,Paul Danaher,John Mullane,Conor Kavanagh,George Daffy,Jeffrey Judge,Ryan Gilmartin,Nathan O'Callaghan and Josh O'Rahilly. On the bench: Thomas Byrnes,Nathan Clancy and Kieran Long. All roads this week lead to Jackman Park, where we meet a resurgent Charleville AFC side, who are putting in some excellent performances in recent games. We face them in the semi final of the Tuohy Cup this Wednesday February7th with a 7.00 pm kick off.We would ask all of our supporters to come along and lend their support on the night. Finally, our club would like to extend gratitude to both Jenny O’Brien and James Deedigan for all their efforts over the last number of the seasons,in their managerial roles within the club.Along the way they tasted success with some of our teams, but unfortunately have had to step away from their role with the under 17 squad.

This weeks winner of the PROMOTERS PRIZE of 25.00 euro. Tony Meehan, Lynwood Park,Limerick. The next lotto draw will be held on Monday next,February 5th. SCHOOLBOY/GIRL WEEKEND ACTION: Yet again a curtailed fixture list for the club due to the recent poor weather conditions, only the U14 Premier League fixture, away to Regional United and the U16 side’s home tie against Killarney Celtic in the national cup surviving, the latter game was moved to UL.First into action were the U14 side, who faced a difficult assignment against an excellent Regional United panel. We began well in the tie,and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession during the opening fifteen minutes or so.We did create some chances in that period but unfortunately could not convert one.Our pressure eventually paid off,Jamie Hogan weaved his way past three defenders, wrong footed the opposing netminder to register a fantastic individual goal. Although continuing to dominate, some good defending by our hosts kept the score at a minimum until half time.We doubled our lead in the second period when good work from Josh McCarthy set up Matt TePou to finish in style. It was Regional’s turn to dominate thereafter, and after throwing extra bodies up front, they reduced the deficit, from our corner kick, they broke swiftly up the field and made it 2-1. We restored our two goal advantage shortly afterwards,a swerving effort from Anthony Byrnes deceived the home teams keeper’ and flew into the net. Some half chances for the remaining ten minutes of the game, created by both sides, but the score remained unchanged to the final whistle. All concerned from both squads are to be complimented for serving up an entertaining game in the most difficult of conditions. We lined out as follows: Josh McCarthy,Aaron Vaughan, Nathan O’Shea,Sean Whelan, Rishkov Boevi, Josh McCarthy,Ronan Deegan,Sean Rice,Jamie Hogan,Evan Barry and Scott Quaid. Substitutes: Anthony Byrnes,Matthew TePou,Igor Czarniak,Max Kwietnieska and Colm Leo. Next up was our under 16 team who played an outstanding Killarney Celtic side in the national cup.Nothing to separate these sides on the day,and although the prevailing weather made life difficult for both teams,it was nevertheless an enthralling game, with the result in the balance until the very end.Chances though, were at a premium, with defences dominating throughout the tie. Consequently the game finished 0-0 after extra time, and proceeded to a penalty shootout.Always a lottery in a sense, but our lads proved the more accurate on the day to advance to the next round, winning on penalty kicks by five to three. One has to have sympathy for our opponents,as we know full well how it feels to exit a competition,in such a manner. Best on the day for us were Shay McCarthy,Joe Kavanagh,Sam Molyneaux,Jack O’Callaghan and a man of the match performance by Cian O’Brien. We commenced as follows: Cian O’Brien,Shay McCarthy,Conor Keane,Evan O’Halloran,Joe Kavanagh,Joey Herbert,Gary O’Halloran,Ciaran Fitzgerald,Denis Dluha,Will O’Neill,Billy Molyneaux. Replacements: Jack O’Callaghan,Sean Byrnes,James Fitzgerald,Fahid Rathman,David Curtin and Sam Hanrahan. Fairview Rangers U16’s will face Evergreen of Kilkenny at home in the next round. Finally our club would like to wish both Conor Keane and Denis Dluha, from the under 16 panel, the best of luck for the future. Both players have moved to Limerick FC. On behalf of everybody associated with our club, can I extend condolences to the Joyce,Purcell and Keane families on their recent sad losses.

THE VIEW WEEKLY LOTTERY RESULTS: The numbers drawn: 15,19,20 and 24. There was no winner of the jackpot of 6500.00 euro, next week’s jackpot will be 6600.00 euro. This weeks five LUCKY DIP winners of 25.00 euro: Tom O’Flynn, Fairview Rangers AFC. Abe Henderson, Fairview Rangers AFC. Dan Long, St.Marys AFC {Cork}. The next lotto draw will be held on Monday next,January 22nd. YOUTHS ADVANCE IN CLASSIC: Only one game on the cards last weekend on the junior and youth fronts, our U18’s entertaining St. Mary’s of Cork in the last sixteen of the coveted Munster Youths Cup.Originally pencilled in as an away tie,the weather that caused so many match cancellations over the weekend, left our opponents pitch also unplayable, the game was consequently switched to the ‘Green on Friday last. The tie itself had everything. No quarter ask or given, the lead changing hands on three occasions, fantastic passages of play, and some outstanding individual displays on the day. The visitors got the perfect start when they scored from an excellent free kick.Thereafter we played our way into the tie, with both Gerard Higgins and Adam McNamara now beginning to gain the upper hand in the centre of the park.We equalised twenty minutes into the game,a long free kick from Alex Kiely deceived the Cork netminder and the leather sailed all the way to the back of the net. Things got even better for us ten minutes later when Mark Gallagher left three defenders in his wake before driving home an effort from just inside the box for an excellent individual goal.Just before the short whistle it was all square again when St. Mary’s equalised with a fine goal. Game on!! Our Cork opponents,it has to be said were on top for long periods in the second half, hitting the woodwork also, but defending is just as much a part of the game as is scoring, both Alex Kiely and Josh Considine were simply immense during that period of sustained pressure. We weathered that storm and it was our lads that were on the front foot for the final fifteen minutes as the game was now finely balanced. With less than five minutes of normal time remaining,we struck for what what proved to be the winning goal. Danny McCarthy, who caused the Leesiders all sorts of problems throughout, delivered a fantastic cross that caused havoc in the danger zone before falling to Mark Gallagher to finish for his second of the game.We played out the remaining time in a cool and controlled fashion, limiting our opponents to a few speculative efforts from long range. Joyous scenes at the final whistle, and rightly so… Make no mistake about it,this Cork side were outstanding, but our lads gave one of their best displays of the campaign, both in defence and attack,to send them into the last eight of the competition. Everybody associated with the panel can be more than happy with their efforts, Josh Considine was once gain outstanding in the heart of defence,Gerard Higgins and Mark Gallagher will remember their contributions for a long time, and although replaced after just thirty five minutes through injury Liam O’Sullivan showed just why he is such a valuable member of not just the youths but the Premier squad also. All that being said the MOTM award goes to Adam McNamara who covered every blade of grass throughout the entire ninety plus minutes. Some achievement when one considers that it was his first full game after being out for close to four months. A bonus too,for the management team,to have someone of his calibre back fighting for a starting berth once again. Well done to all concerned and a speedy recovery to Liam O’Sullivan, who will hopefully be back playing shortly. Excellent result lads…well done one and all!!!!! We lined out as follows: Eoghan Sherlock,Shay McCarthy,Alex Kiely,Josh Considine {captain},David Thompson,Adam McNamara,Gerard Higgins,Ross Mitchell,Danny McCarthy,Mark Gallagher and Liam O’Sullivan. Substitutes: Eoin Quigley,Andrew Brosnahan,Billy Batjargal and Cian O’Brien. SCHOOLBOY/GIRL WEEKEND MATCH DETAILS: Competitive football returned last weekend for our underage section after a long break (some of which was unplanned),albeit in a somewhat curtailed fashion, given that only games scheduled to be played on all weather surfaces were given the green light to proceed. This saw three of our teams take to the field on Saturday last. Our 14 Premier team travelled to take on a highly regarded Aisling Annacotty side at the county venue, and after an absorbing affair,it ended honours even on a 2-2 scoreline. A highly entertaining game between two evenly matched sides, kept both sets of supporters interested throughout.Aisling were on top somewhat in the opening ten or fifteen minutes and that pressure eventually told when they took the lead with a fine effort from the edge of the box. That goal seemed to wake us up and we then took control of the game, and could easily have levelled the tie on at least three occasions, only to be denied by some fine goalkeeping by the opposition netminder,we trailed by the minimum then going into the second half. We again were on the front foot in the second half, and eventually levelled.Evan Barry threaded a beautiful through ball to Anthony Byrnes, who showed great composure to finish clinically. They say you are at your most vulnerable just after you score and this proved to be the case, when almost from the centre off Aisling Annacotty regained the lead. Thereafter we again dominated, creating good chances, but a combination of bad luck and good goalkeeping kept us at bay. With full time fast approaching it looked like we would not get a deserved share of the spoils that our efforts merited, until Jamie Hogan received the ball some twenty five yards out, spotted the opposing keeper’ somewhat off his line, and showed fantastic awareness to send a looping shot all the way to the net for a goal of genuine quality. On the day I am sure both sides would be happy with a point,in what was a very sporting encounter, but that division of the spoils sees both sides maintain their respective unbeaten runs in the league season so far. Well done to all, We commenced as follows: Josh McCarthy,Leon Rush,Nathan O’Shea,Sean Whelan,Anthony Byrnes,Sean Rice,Richkov Boevi,Josh McCarthy,Jamie Hogan,Evan Barry and Scott Quaid. On the bench: Igor Czarniak,Ronan Deegan,Max Kwietnieska,Colm Leo,Matthew TePou and Aaron Vaughan. The clubs U12 Division Two side travelled to take on a bang in form Regional United outfit and, despite our best efforts went down 6-0 on the day.3-0 down at the short whistle,Max Cyran can count himself unlucky not to have found the net on at least two occasions in the second period.Riain O’Shaughnessy also went close with a fine effort. To try and get ourselves back into the game we left ourselves somewhat short at the back, and Regional United duly capitalised, scoring three more in a short space of time midway through the second half to ensure the win.Despite the scoreline our lads could easily have had a few goals themselves but it was not to be. Although losing, they can be happy with the effort and commitment shown on the day,as they contested every ball until the final whistle.I am sure that if they keep that level of performance up the wins will come sooner rather than later. We started as follows: Aidan King,Ben O’Mahony,Logan Ryan Heffernan,Shane O’Donoghue,Stephen O’ Neill,Sean Wallace,Oscar Rocius,Max Cyran {captain} and Jamie Enright. Replacements: Scott Tubridy,Alex Hartigan,Jack Costelloe,C.J. O’Neill and Riain O’Shaughnessy. U16 Premier League, played at UL: Regional United; 2 Fairview Rangers: 2. Finally, our club, and I am sure the players and parents, would like to thank Marcus Grant for all the effort and time he has put in over the last number of years in the various managerial positions he has held at underage level within the club. It is people such as Marcus that ensure that all these young boys and girls are given the wherewithal to enjoy playing the game, and also to improve under his guidance.Marcus had to step away due to family and work commitments. We would also like to welcome, and thank, former player Kevin Heffernan for stepping into the breach to take over the responsibilities, and wish him all the best for the season that remains. U13 INTER LEAGUE: Limerick LDSL drew 1-1 with the Kerry DL at UL on Sunday.all four Fairview Rangers lads,Nathan O’Shea,Matthew TePou,Mark Ward and Josh McCarthy participated at some stage of the game. U12 INTER LEAGUE: The local U12 panel also drew 1-1 with their kingdom counterparts, that panel contains four of our players,Chullainn Williams,Tristan Murphy,Jodie Griffin and Calum Kiely.

THE VIEW Over the course of the last four or five weeks some difficulties have been experienced in despatching the weekly NEWSLETTER to our group of members, friends and supporters from the Fairview Rangers AFC email domain.Gmail has limited the number of emails reaching our people, frustratingly this number has varied from week to week. As a consequence,we have been sending the NEWSLETTER to you through a personal email. We have been unable to rectify this situation. If you have some expertise in this area,or know somebody in our midst who does, please email me at fairviewrangerscommunications@gmail.com or ring me at 087 2996058. We are seeking an alternative to bulk mailing other than gmail,if at all possible. Thank you. The clubs junior and youth fixtures scheduled for last Sunday were all postponed due to the severe, near artic weather conditions prevailing, however our schoolboy/girl matches progressed as planned on Saturday. MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP DRAW: Our Premier side will face Carrick United B {Waterford DL} in the next round of the MFA Junior Cup,at the Fairgreen.Tie to take place on or before the weekend of January 20th/21st 2018. WEEKEND SCHOOLBOY/GIRL GAME DETAILS: The clubs U14 A panel again tasted success,on this occasion against a gallant Corbally United side at the Fairgreen. We took an early lead in this one.Jamie Hogan showed great battling qualities to dispossess a defender before finding Scott Quaid in space who finished expertly. We made it 2-0 soon after when Rishkoff Boevi set off on a mazy run, skipping past three defenders before setting up Josh McCarthy to finish. It was 3-0 just on the stroke of half time when Anthony Byrnes powered home a headed effort from a cross by Sean Rice. Corbally to their credit created some chances of their own in the second period, but found keeper’Josh McCarthy (one of two players of the same name in our team} in outstanding form.Anthony Byrnes scored his second of the game finishing off a fantastic move involving five players. Sean Rice brought the tally to five with a clinical strike and towards the end Evan Barry rounded off the scoring with an excellent effort, leaving the final score 6-0 in our favour. All involved can feel pleased with their performance. Well done lads. We lined out: Josh McCarthy,Leon Rush,Nathan O’Shea,Sean Whelan,Anthony Byrnes, Sean Rice,Rishkoff Boevi,Josh McCarthy,Jamie Hogan,Evan Barry and Scott Quaid. Substitutes: Matthew TePou,Ronan Deegan,Max Kwietnieska,Jake Sheehy and Igor Czarniak The U12 B team went down fighting away to a fine Mungret Regional side on Saturday morning.Trailing the county side 4-0 at the short whistle,we fought our way back in the second half, reducing the arrears to a minimum, courtesy of an outstanding hat-trick from the inform Max Cyran. We took some chances at the back as the second half wore on,and the home side took full advantage, scoring two more on the break. Showing great heart all through we managed to pull one more goal back when a goal bound effort was deflected into the net. However, time was not on our side and the game ended 6-4 in our opponents favour. Our team: Aidan King,Ben O’Mahony,Logan Ryan Heffernan,Oisin Mulhall,Scott Tubridy,Jamie Enright,Riain O’Shaughnessy,Max Cyran {captain} and Alex Hartigan. On the bench: Stephen O’Neill,Sean Wallace,Oswaras Rocius and Shane O’Donoghue . Our U10 panel faced Regional United at the Fairgreen and both sides displayed great skill in their endeavours: The Fairview Rangers panel: Jamie Waters,Alex Kirwin,Ben Kirwin Alex Moore,Alan Kavanagh,Tadhg Kavanagh, Emily Sheehy,Eric O’Brien,Jack McMahon,Josh Wallace,Josh Campbell,Charlie Guerin,Ben Collopy,Killian Keane,James McCarthy and Eamon Doyle. On Saturday the clubs U12 Premier side faced Limerick at home and were very unlucky to lose out 2-4 on the day.We started very brightly with Jodie Griffin and Chulainn Williams on top in midfield and Tristan Murphy causing all sorts of bother to the Limerick backline. We had two great chances early on to take the lead but were narrowly wide with both. The opposition then scored twice before the excellent Calum Kiely got one back from the spot to make it 1-2. We conceded a third early in the second half, but Calum Kiely scored again from the spot to get us back into the game.Jodie Griffin, Chulainn and Tristan went close on several occasions as we pushed hard for the equalizer, however,we were caught on the break and conceded a fourth shortly before the end. The performance of the team deserved more, they fought hard and dominated the game for large spells. If they continue to play like this there will be better results for them in the new year. Best on the day were Calum Kiely,Jodie Griffin,Grace McInerney,Tristan Murphy and Chulainn Williams. WINTER SHUT DOWN APPROACHES: The LDMC have informed clubs that football under their auspices will end for 2017 on Sunday next December 10th and will resume on January 7th 2018. JUNIOR AND YOUTH TEAM MATCH DETAILS: YOUTH SUCCESS IN THE WEST: Pride of place this week goes to our youths. They faced a daunting task in travelling to face Mayo League side Conn Rangers in the last 32 of the national cup.The home team had been dominating proceedings locally, having won 18 games on the bounce, and when our lads found themselves 2-0 down after just twenty minutes things looked decidedly bleak. However we battled our way back into the game when Josh Considine converted a spot kick that left us trailing by the minimum at the short whistle.Putting in our best performance to date this season in the second half,we turned the tie on its head. The prolific Liam O’Sullivan notched two fine goals,Gerard Higgins also netted to give us a 2-4 lead with ten minutes remaining. Conn Rangers scored with less than five minutes left on the clock, but we defended magnificently as a team from there on,including almost nine minutes of injury time,to progress to the last 16 of the FAI Youths Cup.Each and every player involved showed great heart and belief, something that is required to be successful at any level. That is not to say that the result was solely as a consequence of those fine qulaities,as the football we played at times was a joy to behold. It would be unfair to single out any player out for special mention as this result was fashioned by a team effort. Our thanks to our hosts, who were gracious in defeat, and in particular to the opposition manager, who spoke with great humility in the immediate aftermath of this enthralling encounter. Well done to Craig Madigan and Co….keep up the good work!!! We commenced as follows: Eoghan Sherlock,Alex Kiely,Domhnaill Organ,Josh Considine,Shay McCarthy,Gerard Higgins,Joe Kavanagh,Ross Mitchell,Danny McCarthy,Liam O’Sullivan and Mark Gallagher. Back up squad: Blake Curran,Eric Costelloe,Eoin Quigley,Andrew Brosnahan and Cian O’Brien. PREMIER SIDE WIN FIVE GOAL THRILLER: To Sunday then and the clubs Premier team entertained an ever improving Charleville AFC side in a vital league game.It was honours even in a midweek league fixture some months ago at the Co. Cork venue,so this was always going to be a tight affair. We got the perfect start when Lee Whyte’s cross caused some confusion in our opponents defence,Conor Kavanagh reacting quickest to score.Charleville hit a purple patch thereafter and scored twice to lead on twenty five minutes. We levelled matters before half time,Nathan O’Callaghan was slipped through to finish calmly. We regained our lead early in the second half when a fine cross by Liam Byrnes was met powerfully by Conor Kavanagh, his headed effort gave the Charleville netminder no chance. The game ebbed and flowed thereafter, but with both defences on top the score line remained unchanged as we claimed the three valuable points on offer in the process. A good display overall with youth player Josh Considine giving an excellent performance for the second time within twenty four hours,Both Craig Madigan and Conor McCormack were excellent all day with a MOTM performance by Conor Kavanagh. Our team: Ritchie Ryan,Liam Byrnes,Lee Whyte,Clive Healy,Josh Considine,Craig Madigan,Conor Mc Cormack,Conor Kavanagh,Christy Doyle,Nathan O’Callaghan and Nathan Clancy. Replacements: Thomas Byrnes and Liam O Sullivan. BEES BEATEN AT HOME: The B team faced a difficult task, facing promotion prospects Summerville Rovers,at the Fairgreen. And so it turned out to be. We were down 0-1 at the short whistle,Summerville added another two in the second period to run out 0-3 winners. That being said our lads gave their all but unfortunately luck was not on their side on the day. Our lineup: Tony McCarthy,Kieran Ryan,Aran Long,Stephen Gallagher,Conor Joyce,Adam O’Reagan,Conor Madden,Kieran Long,Shane Wallace,Shane O’Connell and Jason Lipper. Bench: Luke Brosnan and Liam Byrnes. LATEST ON THE SCHOOLBOY/GIRL SCENE: 14 A CUP WINNERS 1999/2000: Fairview Rangers won the above at the turn of the century, the compilers of the LDSL history are anxious to get a photograph of the panel, and the names of other panelists. They beat Caherdavin Celtic in the Cup final. U13 INTER LEAGUE TOURNAMENT: The Limerick U13 selection beat the Desmond League 0-4 in Askeaton on Sunday morning,Fairview Rangers players Josh McCarthy,Mark Ward,Matthew TePou and Nathan O’Shea all playing at some stage.Josh McCarthy got on the scoresheet. TWO FAIRVIEW RANGERS PLAYERS IN ETP: Congratulations to Grace McInerney and Jenna Slattery for making the squad of 28 in the Limerick County U14 girls emerging talent programme. CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR BREAK: Next Saturdays schoolboy/girl fixtures are the final ones of 2017,the activity will resume on Saturday January 6th 2018. SCHOOLBOY/GIRL WEEKEND MATCH DETAILS: Our U13 Premier team travelled to take on an excellent Limerick FC side on Saturday last.Putting in one of their best displays of the season,Kevin McCarthy’s side emerged with a well-deserved 3-7 victory. All of our panel player contributed to this win and if this team can repeat these type of performances going forward, they will be in the shake up come seasons end when the silverware is being handed out. Once again Matthew TePou was on the mark with a magnificent hat trick,Callum Murphy played his part with two excellent strikes, while both Jenna Slattery and Aaron Considine rounded off the scoring with clinical finishes. We started as follows: Conor Browne,Jaķe Griffin,Jenna Slattery,Nathan O’Shea,Blake Campbell,Mark ward,Josh McCarthy,Aaron Considine,James Fitzgerald,Matthew Te Pou and Callum Murphy. Starting from the bench: Jamie Hannan. The U7 s faced Aisling Annacotty over the weekend and some excellent fare was served up by all concerned. Fairview Rangers panel: Liam Meehan,Sophie McGuigan,Brandon Price,Charlie Guerin,Craig Sheehan, Nicole O’Flynn and Jaden Slattery, pictured beneath. Our U13 B team travelled to take on Shelbourne AFC on Saturday morning, playing their first competitive game in just under two months.Understandably we started slowly, showing signs of rustiness from the long layoff. The home side took full advantage of this, dominating the opening quarter, and we could well have fallen behind during that period but for the excellence of Mikey Sheehy in goals. Shelbourne eventually made the pressure pay close to the twenty minute mark with a fantastic strike that we could do little about.Going behind seemed to spur our lads on and we equalised immediately from the centre off.Jiberal Sheehan found Tony Clarke on the left wing, and he bore down on goal before firing past the opposition keeper. Five minutes later we took the lead when Tony Clarke scored his second with a carbon copy effort. Both Jake Kavanagh and Chulainn Williams were now starting to dominate in the middle of the park and the latter made it 1-3 after a jinking run. Almost from the restart of the second half we made it 1-4.Jiberal Sheehan was again seen to good effect when finding Joey Deegan who set up Tony Clarke to complete his hat trick.Shelbourne, thereafter were on top in the possession stakes but could find no way past a resolute defence led by Grace McInerney,Callum Kiely and Cian Power. Joey Deegan eventually got the goal his performance deserved when gliding past three defenders to finish clinically. We were awarded a free kick with less than ten minutes remaining on the clock.Jiberal Sheehan struck a magnificent effort from all of thirty five yards to the roof of the net.Jake Kavanagh was unlucky not to score when rattling the woodwork before Shelbourne were rewarded for their efforts with the final goal of the encounter late on,leaving the final score 2-6 in our favour. A fine performance all round after a slow enough start(understandably so),with Tony Clarke getting the MOTM award for his efforts. We lined out as follows: Mikey Sheehy,Grace McInerney,Callum Kiely,Jibral Sheehan,Cian Power,Jake Kavanagh,Ben O'Callaghan,Chuliann Williams,Paudie Madden,Joey Deegan,James Murphy. Reserves: Tony Clarke. The clubs U15 B team also tasted success, registering an impressive 9-0 victory over a never say die Corbally United side. One has to empathise with our opponents as nothing went right for them on the day.The score line could well have been closer had they any luck in front of goals, and they are to be commended for contesting every ball until the final whistle. That being said our boys put in a fantastic stint on the day and well deserved their victory.Anthony Byrnes notched a superb hat-trick,Jamie Hogan scored twice, one of which was particularly impressive, with Sean Rice,Scott Quaid,Lee O’Gorman and Leon Rush also getting their names on the score sheet. I am sure the management team will be just as pleased with the goals coming from so many different players,as they will with the result itself. Our starting team: Josh McCarthey,Max Kiewskiew,Eoghan Kelleher,Anthony Byrnes,Luke Parker,Lee O’Gorman,,Sean Whelan,Sean Rice,Jamie Hogan,Evan Barry and Craig Casey Substitutes: Jake Sheehy,Igor Czarniak,Ronan Deegan,Leon Rush,Alex Bourke,Aaron Vaughan ,Scott Quaid and Colm Leo. Our U11 panel who enjoyed a great tussle with Granville Rangers AFC on Saturday was: Riain O’Shaughnessy,Sean Madden,Jack Costelloe,C.J. O’Neill,T.J. Power,Jamie Enright,Sean Holland,Oisin Mulhall and Patrick Sheehan. Our 15 Premier team defeated Newport Town 8-2,in a home tie giving us four wins from four at schoolboy/girl level last weekend, kudos to all. The scorers against the North Tipperary club were,Denis Dluha{2},Kyle Tierney{2} and a goal apiece from Adam Quinn,Conor Keane,Leonard Plunkett and David Curtin,in a top class team performance. Our winning combination was: Luke Ward,David Madigan,Pierse Sheils,Brian Dillon,Billy Molyneaux,Shane O’Brien,David Curtin,Adam Quinn,Kyle Tierney,Denis Dluha and Conor Keane. Substitute: Leonard Plunkett.

Hi folks, from today onwards we will be uploading our weekly newsletter which is done by Pat Reidy. THE VIEW Over the last couple of weeks the club and indeed the wider junior soccer fraternity suffered several sad bereavements. Our condolences go our former player and FAI winner Colin Fleming on the passing of his Dad,John.Similarly, our sympathies to the Horgan family on the recent demise of Breda Horgan Also in our thoughts and prayers are the family and friends of two great servants of the local game who passed away at so young an age.Harry Rooney and Thomas “Bomber” Hehir both had fantastic careers in junior soccer in Limerick and I am sure everybody associated with the game locally were shocked and saddened by their untimely passing. Finally Bernie Lipper {nee Plunkett},a lifelong supporter of Fairview Rangers AFC and wife of Club President Sean, passed away at home with her family by her side recently.Bernie was a very modest woman who achieved so much for the club for so many decades that it would be impossible to document. She was an active member of our ladies committee for many years and was always at her husband’s side throughout all the good times that the club enjoyed.None more so than when Sean guided the first Fairview Rangers and indeed Limerick team to win the FAI Junior Cup in the 1964/65 season.Sean and Bernie were always available to help out and many people who followed in Sean’s footsteps sought advice from both on so many occasions.Advice, that was to contribute to making the club the most successful side in the history of the FAI Junior Cup,and also in creating the magnificent facilities in the ‘Green today. May God rest all their gentle souls. FAIRVIEW RANGERS AFC CLUB SHOP NOW OPEN ONLINE: Our club has set up a direct online shopping service in conjunction with Balon Direct. To purchase: 1. YOUTHS ADVANCE IN PROVINCIAL COMPETITION: Only one game involving the club survived the weather conditions over the weekend, our Minor team entertaining Co.Cork side Charleville AFC in the Munster Youths Cup on Sunday afternoon last at the Fairgreen.A fine performance by our lads saw them progress by virtue of a 4-1 win. We started brightly and with literally our first foray into opposition territory took the lead.A superb run by Danny McCarthy saw him glide past their fullback before whipping a delightful cross into the danger area where Mark Gallagher guided the ball past the keeper with a looping headed effort.Mark Gallagher turned provider soon after when cutting the ball back for Liam O’Sullivan to finish clinically. We made it 3-0 on twenty five minutes, once again Danny McCarthy supplied another pinpoint cross for Mark Gallagher to notch his second of the afternoon.A much more even affair in the second period, with the north Cork side creating several chances of their own,but found our defence in superb form during that period. We ensured our progress safe midway through the second half when Danny McCarthy got the goal his performance deserved.Charleville,to their credit, never gave up and got their just rewards when netting late on,leaving the final score 4-1. A good team performance, with Shay McCarthy,Joe Kavanagh and Josh Considine having excellent outings, but the MOTM award has to go to Danny McCarthy who created two and scored one. This team travel to Co. Mayo on Saturday next to take on table topping Conn Rangers in the national cup. Although quite a journey, everybody connected with the side would appreciate some support on the day so if anyone can make the trip to give the lads the encouragement they deserve, please do so. We lined out as follows: Eoghan Sherlock,Alex Kiely,David Thompson,Josh Considine,Shay McCarthy,Gerard Higgins,Joe Kavanagh,Ross Mitchell,Danny McCarthy,Liam O’Sullivan and Mark Gallagher.
