Donate Now:https://goo.gl/NnKuQy Humanitarian assistance for 60,000 people safely reached the Syrian villages #Madaya, #Foah and #Kafraya as all trucks reached the warehouses and are being offloaded right now. The humanitarian assistance included food, medicines and blankets, it will be distributed very soon. "Crowds of hungry kids around," Said Sajjad Malik, UNHCR's representative in Syria, from Madaya, the isolated town. "It's heart-breaking to see so many hungry people. It's cold and raining but there is excitement because we are here with some food and blankets." Additional convoys to the same locations will take place over the coming days, carrying UNHCR aid including blankets, winter clothes, jerry cans, household items and diapers. Convoys are expected to be completed by Thursday. As the crisis in Syria nears its sixth year, up to 4.5 million people in the country live in hard-to-reach areas, including nearly 400,000 people in 15 besieged locations who do not have access to the aid that they desperately need.

Please Help:https://goo.gl/NnKuQy Ukrainian siblings play in the temporary home they now shelter in after being driven from their cottage by artillery damage. More than two million eastern Ukrainians have been forced to flee since the beginning of the conflict in 2014. Many like this family live in limbo, displaced in their own country, where continuing hostilities and the breakdown of services mean every day life is a struggle. Now, as temperatures drop below zero, an estimated 800,000 people are living in difficult and dangerous conditions on both sides of the frontline. Since November we have sent nearly 1,000 metric tons of aid, and have many more resources ready for the coming cold months. With the first snow and freezing temperatures, the delivery of winter aid to these remote communities is crucial.

Change for us today at UNHCR, as we welcome a new High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi: "UNHCR is navigating extraordinarily difficult waters. The combination of multiple conflicts and resulting mass displacement, fresh challenges to asylum, the funding gap between humanitarian needs and resources, and growing xenophobia is very dangerous. The road ahead is a challenging one, but I hope that – working with governments, civil society, and other partners – we will make progress in ensuring international protection and improved living conditions for millions of refugees, internally displaced and stateless people." "There are no words to explain how happy I am. Thank you. I will never forget this." Ramadan and his wife Shireen fled Iraq this fall with their four children. Amidst the chaos of crossing the border from Turkey to Greece, they were separated from their youngest son, Yousef. An anguish we can hardly imagine. The three-year-old year old managed to reach Greece in the care of another man, while his family remained stuck at the border in Turkey. Yousef was placed in a shelter for separated and unaccompanied children in northeastern Greece. Our colleagues on the ground were able to locate and contact his family, who finally arrived in Greece weeks later. Last week, the parents were finally able to reach the shelter for a tearful and emotional reunion with their son - sweeping him into their arms. We’re so happy this family is back together.
