MakeUfeel creates spaces where individuals can experience and explore heart connections through creativity in a community setting.  At any given moment I have about a gazillion light bulbs flickering above my head. I see pictures.

I connect the dots. I communicate my ideas. And ultimately I would like to believe that I make the world a better place by connecting deeply with others, being creative, enthusiastic and up for any challenge.

I have a degree in film and television, have written dozens of speeches and have coached many young public speakers.  I have studied courses in Christian spirituality and art therapy, and am a Nia movement teacher. I have worked in broadcasting for international television news channels and with a creative team of an amazing church in South Africa. I have also facilitated drama and creative writing classes for the youth of Hong Kong.

In a nutshell:

I create. I write. I coach. I move. I speak. I teach.

But most of all, I feel.

Throughout the years, a little (critical) voice inside my head kept whispering: "stick to one discipline", until my heart whispered back one day: "I am! The discipline is self-discovery, self-expression, self-acceptance".

I love embarking on unconventional journeys with individuals to tap into what it is that makes their hearts sing. A friend once said to me that passion drives change, and I am always on the lookout for passionate individuals to collaborate with. This fills me up and gets me excited as I get to learn and be a part of something that's bigger than me.

So I created makeUfeel. Because what is the purpose of what we're doing, if we're not moving hearts with our words, actions and gestures?

makeUfeel is all about:

Creativity - Connections - Community.

Tonight I will be teaching a Nia class at The Beat Dance and Fitness Studio at 7:30. The focus for tonight is: STABILITY and MOBILITY. The intent is to find stability in the base of the body and mobility in the upper body. It's also a great metaphor for LIFE, which is why I love Nia!

X-Ray Anatomy. Last week I shared a special story with Artist Mariaan Kotze Art. Decor. Gifts, she created this beautifully authentic interpretation of my experience. This is the story: "It all started with a picture. A beautiful moment frozen in time. Antonella touched my face tenderly with both hands as she congratulated me with the completion my Nia dance training in Portland. The picture was so heartwarming and special that the organisers of the event posted it on social media and hundreds liked it. Except for me. All I saw was the red blemishes on my arms, my not-so-slim waist, my imperfect body. Instantly I developed a dislike for the photo, in plain terms, I thought "I look fat, what an ugly picture of me". I moved on, forgot about the picture, discarded it from my memory. Months later I reminisced about my time in Portland. The authentic people I met, the beautiful transition I experienced, and most of all the joy I felt while dancing after a long period of grief. I searched for the photos in a desperate attempt to relive that experience, if only in my imagination. I looked at the photo again, and my inner critic exclaimed - "you look so fat, the angle is unflattering", but inside of me, barely audible I heard a voice whisper: "You look amazing, what a beautiful picture, what a fond memory." So I decided to share the picture with the world. On my facebook page. This is kind of a big deal for me, because it was the first picture that I have ever posted on facebook. I felt so exposed, so vulnerable, but yet so honest. Something inside of me shifted. I was inspired to share this story with my dance class. As a way of integrating new knowledge into my life journey, I often have to embody it on the dance floor. The focus of my dance class was Body Image, and the intent was to look at yourself in the mirror and look past the surface. In Nia, we call this X-ray anatomy. As I announced it to the class, I heard that small voice grow louder, my body answered with a loud "Hallelujah". In an instant, I had renewed vision. I saw my body for what is was. An amazing structure that contains a spirit and a soul and I was filled with gratitude. I saw my body as more than just a "flawed, imperfect" representation of me, I saw my body as a unique and beautiful vessel with functionality engineered to perfection. What an amazing gift! Of course, my inner critic's voice will shout and abuse, but I accept the invitation to tune into my body's voice, the voice that says - you are beautiful, you are loved, you are life!"
