ISCA & MOVE Congress - MOVING PEOPLE <3 tag yourself and your co-participants!

DAY1 #done: Yesterday's panels and workshops at the #movecongress2017 focused on movement spaces and how to engage the hard-to-reach groups and motivate them. Various speakers noted that physical activity is not only beneficial for health, it's a powerful tool that can fundamentally improve the ways how we integrate various groups to the society. It's all about community, and #movingpeople should be one, joint network.

MOVE Congress 2017 has started! Morning plenary session featured Karen Creavin, Andreas Selliaas, Charles Johnston, Mogens Kirkeby, Gil Penalosa and Jane Ashworth to open the topic of "Human Right to MOVE."

“I don’t think this city has seen an opening of a congress like this," said Councillor Ian Ward at the opening of MOVE Congress 2017. Greeting the participants in an active way, the beginning of conference took over not only Birmingham City Council House but welcomed the citizens, too. This week's #movecongress2017 - co-hosted by Birmingham City Council - showcases the classic Active Network partnership between grassroots sport organisations and local authorities. An online resource developed by the NCSEM-EM and Public Health England (PHE) to encourage physical activity in older adults was launched by Sport England, The course is free to access – please apply for your unique username and password on the web-site.

#BeActive Saturday: Celebrating the last day of European Week of Sport, we joined the Copenhagen Runners High that is a cool example of an urban running event - participants did not only run on the streets, but also up the stairs on top of a 24m high parking house.

18/9/2017 UISP: Let’s use the tools we have to convince stakeholders about the importance of physical activity In Italy, important stakeholders in sport and physical activity are spread out over different regions, as well as those sitting in the most influential seats of the national government. So this presents a complex, but exciting challenge to organisations like ISCA member UISP, which navigates these diverse political settings everyday through its national umbrella and regional and local committees. UISP’s Raffaella Chiodo Karpinsky shares her insights with us as part of the ActiveVoice project.

On Friday 29 September, coinciding with the third European School Sport Day and the European Week of Sport, ISCA partner Sport and Citizenship is hosting a one-day seminar called Active Schools, Active Kids! at the EU Committee of Regions in Brussels. ISCA’s Laska Nenova will present at the seminar alongside representatives from the International School Sport Federation (ISF), Play International and Nike.
