Another great performance by the JGF Top Ten team today defeating a strong Gourock team at Ardgowan - considering the amount of rain the green was in very good condition. We are now through to the quarter finals next Sunday afternoon at Wellington Park where we will play the winners of the Elderslie Wallace v Linwood game which was cancelled today and will now be played next Sunday morning.

On Sunday 14th July 2019, John G. Fleming Bowling Club in Houston hosted their Annual Charity Day and Ladies bowls competition. Thank you to the 64 ladies who took part in the competition, an even bigger thank you to everyone who very generously donated raffle prizes and home baking, and an equally big thank you to all those who purchased raffle tickets and home baking items. At a 2nd fundraising event on July 27th - a cabaret evening in John G.Fleming Bowling Club in Houston - we managed to raise a further £850 bringing the 2019 total to the magnificent sum of £3350 - with as usual all proceeds going to the very worthy cause of The St.Vincent's Hospice. A huge thanks to CPA Engineered Solutions based in Shotts, Lanarkshire for their very generous sponsorship of the Bowls Competition. Also thanks to the many local businesses for their very kind donations - The Fox and Hounds, The River Inn, Carriages (Kilmacolm), The Houston Inn, The Coach House (B.O.W.), The Paper Shop (Houston), Anderson Bakers (B.O.W.), Tulip Hair Salon (B.O.W.), Gaynor at Aurora (Johnstone), So Beauty (Linwood) and Roots (Linwood) and to the many individuals who gave personal donations towards the cause. Today Isabel and I accompanied by John Haddow of CPA Engineered Solutions had the great pleasure of visiting St.Vincent’s Hospice and presenting this year’s cheque. It is such a great cause and the work the staff perform is truly inspirational - hopefully with everyone’s continued help and support we can continue raising money for the Hospice for many years to come.

Just home after a great night in the Club attending our annual Charity Cabaret evening in aid of the local St.Vincent’s Hospice - huge thanks to the acts - Robbie Carran and Joanne Bence - you were both brilliant. Also a big thank you to all who turned up to support this event and also to those who could not make it however still donated generously. Tonight we raised over £800 and when this is added to earlier fundraising efforts we are now at a total of well over £3200 - smashing last year’s total of £2010. I will publish a final report with the exact total in the next few weeks. Thanks again to everyone for their support and their generosity.
