Local Business

Black Springs Golf Course is a family owned and operated business. The course is built on approx 65 acres of land purchased in 1997 and main construction of the course began in early 1999.

The course opened to the public in October 1999. At that time some of the fairways were still not fully covered, so square patches of turf were used and tee up on fairways was allowed.

A picturesque 9 hole course built around natural gums and water. Located 6.5km south of Mackay's Tourist information centre ( off the Bruce Highway in Callaway Court   Bakers Creek)
The licensed clubhouse is a great way to start and finish your round of golf.  Visitors are most welcome.

Pick and place decision A decision has been made regarding pick and place on the course. There was a response from about 50 players over the course of November, so thank you to everyone that put in there vote. The members that put there vote, were 52 % to keep pick and place in some form, and 48 % to get rid of it all together. As from opening day next year, the rule will be in place for Pick and Place to be used on the Fairway in Play only. The fairways will be marked by orange stakes. In the past 6 months all effort has gone into getting the greens back, so very little work has been done on the fairways. With the right conditions ( rain) and fertilizer and topdressing of the bad areas on No. 4 from 200mts to 60 mts from the green and No. 8 between 100mts to 10 mts from the green, the fairways will come back. Next year at some stage when the fairways are in better condition then they are at the moment, Ross will trial the removal of pick and place all together and a final decision will be made from there.
