With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow, and thrive.

OPEN DOORS
As a charitable organization, the YMCA turns no one away for their inability to pay.
Financial assistance makes YMCA membership and programs (after school care, youth sports, day camp, and swimming lessons, etc.) is available to qualifying households at an income based rate scale.

GET INVOLVED
To do important work in our community, the Y relies on getting members, donors,
volunteers and community leaders involved.

When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about lasting personal and social change.  Whether you want to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve your own or your family’s health and well-being, or give back and support your neighbors, your involvement with the Y will positively impact those in your community.

Our community was frightened this evening by a fire that raged right next door. We are devastated for the loss of a historic building. We are thankful none have been hurt. We are thankful the damage to neighboring buildings (like ours!) is minimal. We are thankful for and impressed by our local fire department and EMS, whom we credit for saving our Y. We are especially thankful for the opportunity that tragedy provides us to show one another how we can come together. At five this evening, the heat at our doors was so hot that we knew we had to evacuate. If you walked through our perfectly safe Y building right now, you’d know that there was fear in those moments. Clothing and balls are strewn about. Vehicles were covered in ash and staff members went home smelling like smoke. But in the aftermath, you can also see the beauty of our community. A neighboring YMCA called to say they were praying. Staffers who were offsite reported to the Y to help. Rachel Godfroy and Alex Honeycutt ushered kids out of the building and calmed their fears. A local nurse and Y member came over to help with potential injuries. Madi Ramos helped women in the locker room. Another Y member helped a mother carry her children out. Big R and Goodfellas provided food and drink to exhausted emergency personnel. In the midst of tragedy, we helped each other. Wabash County, you really are stellar. “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” — Mister Rogers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LGHtc_D328
