FOR SALE: The horn of your dreams awaits. This early 1952 Selmer SBA tenor with 98% original lacquer was overhauled here at The Sax Clinic 7 years ago and then put away and has rarely been played since. It is a two owner horn (both careful elders) that has Roo Pads with seamless domed nickel resonators. The current owner is no longer able to play and would like to find this tenor a new home. I have given it a fresh set-up, opened up the action as it was set low for an elderly player with less wind pressure available. Now it's dialed in and ready to entertain player and listener alike for generations. This is a once in a lifetime tenor. It has a dark lush core, compact in the center and slightly spread on the edges giving it great versatility. It will brighten when pushed like most great SBAs do. There have been no solder repairs, a slight neck pull down was repaired with no compromise to the original contour or lacquer loss (it's all in the hands). The neck was a bit stuffy so I adjusted the Venturi taper in the neck and it really opened up nicely without compromise to the upper end. A couple small dents in the bow were pushed up with minimal lacquer distortion. I want this horn. I love this horn. I can't keep this horn for myself... Comes with a generic wood tenor case from the 60's (looks like it could be a Buffet case). It's lovely and solid and will make for safe shipping. The Sax Clinic has NEVER had a saxophone returned. 100% customer satisfaction...guaranteed!!! Asking $12,500 for this remarkable piece of French and American craftsmanship.
