Tacoma and Parkland's local independent bookstore, part of Pacific Lutheran University. Our mission is to inspire others to read, learn, and grow to better serve our community and our world.
Garfield Book Company at PLU is owned and operated by Pacific Lutheran University. The bookstore has textbooks, tradebooks, technology, beauty, school supplies, dorm supplies, PLU gear, and more. GBC also hosts many community events throughout the year to promote readership and community within the Parkland area.
Garfield Book Company stays true to its community identity by maintaining formal partnerships with the Franklin Pierce School District, Bethel School District, Garfield Street Business Association, FPS Chamber of Commerce, and others.
In addition, Garfield Book Company also has a Scandinavian Shop which has all sorts of culturally relevant items from sweaters to cookware.
The 208 Garfield cafe is also right next door with food, coffee, and adult beverages.
