This program is designed to help families better understand how it feels to be living with dementia and related changes. Lake Huron Medical Center Celebrates September Employee and Volunteer of the Month Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) celebrated its employees and volunteers during a recognition event where the Employee and Volunteer of the Month of September were announced. The September 2017 Employee of the Month is Christina Brown. Christina works as a Patient Account Registrar/Admitting at the North Campus and has been employed with LHMC since September 2016. Christina was nominated by a patient who described Christina as going above and beyond in finding her lost cell phone. She went on to say Christina is “a wonderful person and employee!” The September 2017 Volunteer of the Month is Sandy Bonito. Sandy serves on the Lake Huron Foundation and has been a volunteer with the hospital since 1990. Sandy was nominated by an employee who stated, “Sandy supports our department by assisting with mailings and keeping projects moving forward. She is professional and fun to work alongside. We are lucky to have great volunteers like her at LHMC.” Lake Huron Medical Center extends a special thank you to Christina Brown and Sandy Bonito for making the Lake Huron Medical Center difference. Look Good...Feel Better is a free, non-medical, salon and product neutral program that teaches techniques to people undergoing cancer treatments to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Look Good...Feel Better sessions are held monthly at LHMC. Our next session is Wednesday, September 13th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. To register for this free service call 1-800-227-2345. Look Good...Feel Better is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association. Are you or someone you know living with the effects of a stroke or acquired head injury? Lake Huron Medical Center offers a unique support group just for you. Designed to provide support to survivors as well as family members and caregivers, our Stroke and Acquired Head Injury Support Group meets monthly and is facilitated by a Speech Pathologist and other certified professionals in the treatment of stroke and acquired head injuries. The Lake Huron Medical Center HEARTLINK Support and Education group offers ongoing cardiac education and support for any individuals, living with heart related medical conditions and their caregiver. Facilitated by LHMC Lead Cardiac Rehabilitation RN, this support group covers a different topic each month. There is no charge to attend HEARTLINK. This group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Huron Medical Center Main Campus, 2601 Electric Avenue, Port Huron, Michigan. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
