Those admission prices include a Timeline video highlighting the history of Pella and a guided tour through the windmill and Miniature Village. Along with that we have a self-guided tour through our Historical Village. We have more than 20 buildings on campus! Our June Social Saturday evening took place at PHSM's five campuses...the Vermeer Windmill, the Scholte House, the Klokkenspel, and Amsterdam School, with everyone ending up at the Village for dinner and a dance. All 80 of us had a great time!

Exciting day at Pella Historical....the garage next to Scholte House is scheduled to come down; we had an excellent History Series presentation last night with "Vang"; and Mac the Village Cat got locked into the Sterrenberg Library overnight. Fortunately, he's a gentleman and didn't make too much of a mess.

We will be digging up our tulip bulbs this week so you can pick them up at Scholte Gardens behind the old Casey's and at the Historical Village on E. 2nd St next to the alley. Please do not dig any bulbs up in our gardens, we will do all the digging. Thanks

See our upcoming events (below) about PHSM's History Series presentation of "Vang," written by Iowa Poet Laureate Mary Swander. Vang (Hmong for "farm) portrays the struggles of immigrants to Iowa who want to farm--from a Dutch couple who feels isolated to a Hmong family who escaped through the jungle from an oppressive regime to a Mexican woman who learns English through the obscene taunts throw at her at the meatpacking plant where she works. A "talk-back" with Swander will take place afterwards. Wednesday, May 31, 8 p.m. Get your tickets now.

13 iconic Dutch liberation day photos

Seventy-two years ago today the Netherlands was liberated by the Allies at the end of WWII. These pictures of the Dutch liberation are heartwarming and sad. In Pella, the 1945 Tulip Time festival was held at the airbase in Ottumwa with the 2500 Navy personnel stationed there. Instead of a 1946 festival, a community auction raised $100,000 for the people of Holland. https://stuffdutchpeoplelike.com/2015/05/04/13-iconic-dutch-liberation-photos/
