Helping horses overcome problems and riders overcome their fears and become leaders, in order to build communication and improved performance. Raised in Middle Tennessee, Troy has been around horses his entire life, and has had a life-long passion to learn as much about horses as he can.  From rodeo to in and out of the show horse industry where he trained and hauled youth and amateur exhibitors on the national Quarter Horse circuit, to ranching in both Tennessee and the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming, horses have been an integral part of Troy’s life, and constant companions.
   While not a student of any particular horseman, Troy has been influenced by and privileged to ride with many of the greats, but believes that the greatest teacher is the horse itself, and that listening to and learning from the horse is a lifetime journey.
At the present time Troy trains horses for himself and the public, with particular interest in helping riders understand and become partners with their horses.  In his own words;
   “ My goal is helping horses overcome problems and riders overcome their fears and become leaders, in order to build communication and improved performance. My journey continues every day and if I have helped any one with any aspect of their journey, then I am fulfilled."

Thought for the day - 5/15/17 - I want to set my horses up for success. Part of that process involves me giving my horses opportunities to think for themselves and find the correct answer instead of me controlling their every move. The key is rewarding them when they get it right. Bottom line - don't micro manage your horses.

Thought for today - 5/12/17 - whether it is a personal horse or one of my customer's horses, I don't want any horse that I work with to dread seeing me coming. I want every horse I interact with to look at me with anticipation of a fair deal and good things to come. Too many horses come to me that have never been offered a fair deal.

Thought for the day - 5/8/17 - every time you ask your horse to move off try to ride with purpose and as straight and correctly as you can . If your horse is not traveling straight toward your destination quit fiddling with your reins and the front end. Instead move his hips because that's what's taking you there to begin with.

Thought for today - 5/4/17 - I am continually asked, "what type of bit do I need? My snaffle isn't working. I'm sure I need a bigger stronger bit". If you can't advance and achieve better results in a snaffle, you may need a BIT more knowledge. With knowledge, time and patience the solution always appears.

Thought for the day - 5/3/17 - Softness comes from the mind of the horse. The mind of the horse is connected to the feet. If your horse is rude, pushy, fearful or full of brace then you have not achieved softness in the mind.

Thought for today - 5/2/17 - I'm not going to beg a horse to do anything. I see people beg their horses every day. I'm going to 'ask', making sure the horse understands what I'm asking. If I 'ask' and there is no change I'm going to 'insist'. My emotions never change, but my energy does.

Thought for today - 5/1/17 - if you want to work with horses you have to begin from where the horse is at. If you're able to listen, they will tell you, in fact they speak volumes. The horse cannot start from where you're at.
