Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) is excited to bring back their annual Flora R. Martinez Nursing Scholarship program for 2018. Flora R. Martinez was a GVHC Board Member for 43 years. She believed in GVHC’s mission and had a special place in her heart for nurses because she understood their love and dedication to the profession. Upon her passing in 2014, her son promised to continue her legacy, and thus the Flora R. Martinez Nursing Scholarship was created. A typical kid might ask their Dad for the newest iPhone, shoes or a video game console. Golden Valley Health Centers received a different type of wish list this holiday season. A young girl asking for pajamas and nothing else. One mother asks for pillows and blankets because her three children are sharing a bed with one pillow. A boy asks for a football and some shoes. Another mother just wants to be able to provide a Christmas dinner for her family. These come from the wish lists of the underserved families in our area. Our Adopt-A-Family program was committed to helping these families at the holidays and throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who is part of GVHC, with your help we were able to make a difference in the lives of so many families. Here are some photos/videos of some families we were able to support! Happy Holidays!
