Saturday, February 24, 2018 Today marked a special Celebration of Life Memorial Service for the beloved Jack Shales. Well known in the Elgin community for being a tireless supporter of local programs and agencies and generous philanthropist and businessman, Shales began his business career with Illinois Hydraulic Construction Company in Elgin, where he worked for 27 years. In 1983, he became a founding partner with Jerry Seagren in Seagren/Shales, Inc. In 2001, he and his sons joined with John McNutt in establishing Shales McNutt Construction, a construction firm that continues to bear his name. And, his connection to Judson spanned more than 50 years. He died last month at age 87 following a brief illness. Local dignitaries and members of the Elgin community and surrounding areas gathered at Herrick Chapel today to remember this remarkable man and his legacy and to offer prayers of support for his family and recall their stories - all touched by Jack Shales. Thanks to everyone who shared in this occasion with us. #ElginIL #JackShales Photos by Nora Russell ‘20
