This page is a way to get information out to our residents in a more efficient manner. Early records show East McKeesport as being part of a tract called "Scanderoon" an indian name.  It was said the indians gave the names of their warriors to various tracts of land.  Title research shows ownership of the land dating back to 1804 and that it was part of Westmoreland county before the formation of Allegheny County.

East McKeesport, the east end of McKeesport was named after the McKees family, pioneers in the area.  The principle owners of the land in 1892 were:
1.  James Carson
2.  Sarah McClure
3.  Edward Taylor
4.  Henry Taylor

When East McKeesport was just starting out it was called the up and coming place to be.  We had a hotel, amusement park, a trolley going down the middle of Broadway, schools, our own baseball team and houses popping up everywhere.  It was the place to live at that time.

Our little town has come a long way since 1895 and will prosper as the years go on.
