Burlingame State Park and Campground is a Rhode Island state park and recreation area located next to Watchaug Pond in the town of Charlestown. The park is adjacent to the National Audubon Society's Kimball Wildlife Sanctuary, a 29acre property on the southern shore of Watchaug Pond.Activities and amenitiesThe park features camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and a boat-launch ramp. Hiking trails connect the campground and the Kimball Wildlife Sanctuary. Educational programs are held at the sanctuary throughout the year.WildlifeMammals observed at the park include deer, rabbits, muskrat, mink, foxes, otters and weasels. Up to 80 bird species nest in the park, and many more pass through during migration season. Reptiles and amphibians include frogs, salamanders, Eastern box turtles and the non-venomous northern water snake.CampgroundThe campground's include 713 campsites, a camp store, freshwater beach, and canoe rentals.OtherThe park's northern area along the Pawcatuck River is used primarily for hunting.
