The Citizen's Police Academy concluded this evening with Graduation Ceremony and BBQ Dinner. The members of the class received certificates and Challenge Coins presented by Chief Woody. Thank you Officer Buckshot Smith for preparing the BBQ and thank you to all the students who attended. I hope it was as great of an expirience for you as it was for us to meet you all and get to know you. Thank you for your input as we strive to make the Fall Academy even more fun and informative!

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Glow 5k! Congratulations to Jon Butler, Rashad Al-Sabban, Daniel Bean, AJ Ellis, McKlain Keithley, and Jessi Poindexter for placing in the 5K! We hope everyone had a great time, see y'all next year!!

Good Morning Facebook! We have an up-coming event we would like to invite you too! We are once again partnering up with Ouachita County 4-H for a Youth Fishing Derby! This will take place at the Camden Fairview High School pond Saturday May 20th from 7:30am- Noon! This is going to be a great event for our community and we hope to see everyone there!

CPD Sgt. Jimmy Plyler gave a power point and videos of active shooter incidents in the course called CRASE...Citizens Response to Active Shooter Events at the Citizen's Police Academy this week. He gave important information to use if you are involved in an active shooter event and what to do to remain safe. He also explained what to do when police arrive so you are not mistaken for the perpertrator. He emphasized....What you do matters!

As the students of the Citizen's Police Academy learned to use the MILO simulator, they were faced with life-like scenarios an officer may encounter such as when to shoot or not. Jocelyn Keller was faced with a man running at her with a knife. She drew her weapon from the holster and stopped the threat in food time. Great job Jocelyn!

The Citizen's Police Academy was introduced to MILO, a life sized simulator used by law enforcement trainees at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. The simulator was operated by ALETA Instructor Tony Maddox while ALETA Instructor Rodney Franklin assisted the students in proper use of the gun and what to look for. The demonstration started off with a little target practice. This was a can of Diet Dr. Pepper.

I love coming here doing what I was set in charge to do, cleaning & I have met some real nice people. I have the best bosses in the world, Mrs. Sann and Bo Woody, they’re 3. What do you like to do on your spare time? Going to church, watching TV, listen to Gospel music, and sleeping. 4. How has the Camden Police Department impacted you? Their impact on me is that they show a lot of love and do not, and do not get in trouble, they will get you! I just love my job. 5. What is an interesting fact about you? Well I am serious about my work. I aim to please, I love having fun. I try to be serious, but it’s hard to do, and I love giving God what he deserves. He’s the one who brought me here.
