The early spring snowfall challenged many of the spring wildflowers but they seem to be recovering nicely. Wood frogs, spring peepers, chorus frogs and leopard frogs are singing in Bass Creek today.

Minnesota state park campground hosts: Minnesota DNR

Lake Bemidji State Park—Campground Host Opportunity We are looking for campground hosts for the months of May and June 2017. In exchange for a free camping spot (site 49, with water and electric; no sewer), the camphost volunteers about 40 hours a week (a couple can share this time). Overall, the camphost helps campers—for example, helping guide an RV into a campsite, letting visitors know where they can do laundry in town, or providing information on park facilities, trails, and programs. Camphosts assist park staff by doing light cleaning in bathrooms, cleaning out fire rings, picking up trash, tracking campers’ departures, and letting staff know of significant issues. Camphosts help inform park visitors and campers of storm warnings and where to take shelter if necessary. For more information, please contact Sue at Lake Bemidji State Park, (218) 308-2329. Thanks!
