The Anointing of the Sick is the Sacrament of Healing. The Church offers prayers for recovery, with the more important intention to give strength to the soul. The Church believes that the sacrament offers a special grace to calm the spirit. If physical recovery is God’s will, so be it. If not, then the person needs the grace, strength, and encouragement to bear the illness with dignity. May 21, 2017 9:30 a.m. Mass

Altar Server Training

For any person who is 4th grade or older and has made their First Communion, you are invited to Altar Server Training Wednesday, May 17. What is an altar server? The two main duties of a server are to assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of Mass and help the people pray by their example. Once trained, servers will be placed with an experienced altar server to do a "hands on" type of training during Masses. Then, they will be put on a schedule to help with Masses. Altar serving is a great way for youth to get more involved in Mass, and can also help youth who sometimes find it difficult to engage in Mass. Altar serving keeps them busy and gives them a front row seat of the beauty of the Catholic Mass. Mrs. Mary Leonard, other volunteers, and current altar servers will be helping out with the training. The training will be from 6:30-7:30pm in the church and pizza will be provided! Parents are welcome to come as well. If you are interested, please email stpetere@gmail.com or call 847-395-0037, so we know how many to expect for the training.
