Giggleswick International Summer School
Description
The Giggleswick International Summer School Welcome to all international students and parents who are looking for an intensive English language summer course.
Now in its 500th year, Giggleswick School is well-established worldwide as one of Britain's top boarding schools. Its first class boarding, teaching and sporting facilities makes it the perfect place for boys and girls aged 11 - 16 to improve their English and make new friends. The School is located in the North of England, just one hour from Manchester International airport. It is within walking distance of the market town of Settle, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The course itself is an intensive English language programme for 11 – 16 year olds. Each day is different but a normal weekday consists of English language tuition in the mornings, fun exercises before lunch, a choice of sporting, adventurous and cultural activities in the afternoons and a full evening social programme. There are local trips on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and full day excursions over the weekend.

facebook.comThe students enjoyed the team building activity of 'flag making' with everybody getting involved and working together.
The students gained a fantastic insight into the art of fencing, in the form of a lesson from a professional coach. They were introduced to the history behind the sport and to some of the techniques that make a great fencer!

With the end of camp rapidly approaching, the students were treated to a traditional British BBQ for all their hard work during their stay in Giggleswick!
Highlight from last weekend which ensured that the students could make the most of a beautiful, warm day in Giggleswick.
Students took part in a fashion show evening. In their respective houses they were required to design three outfits based on the categories Beachwear, Eveningwear and Pokémon characters. After the outfits were created, three students from each house were chosen to represent and show off their designs for our judges. The outcome of which crowned Bowland as the winners of the fashion show!

The summer school visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach; an award winning theme park with over a hundred rides and attractions, located by the seafront. Everybody had a lot of fun exploring the park and riding the roller coasters!
Today the summer school were given a guided tour of Skipton Castle. They learnt about some of the local history and were provided with a very interesting insight into how people used to live.
Students thoroughly enjoyed their Archery lesson this week.
Lots of fun was had during the Summer School flag making event. The students were split into their three house teams and asked to create a large and a small flag. These flags needed to state and show what their house was and what represents them as a team. After much deliberation the judges awarded Malham house the prize for the best small flag and Bowland the prize for the best large flag.
The students visited Towneley Hall art gallery and museum, where they learnt about the rich history of the Towneley family and the grounds that the house inhabits. Afterwards they enjoyed some of their free time in the beautiful grounds, making the most of the sunshine!
