It's British Science Week and we have groups of all ages coming to see us to learn all about the science and engineering behind making energy. Our exhibition explores how dams are built, how the fish ladder works and allows you to get hands on at powering a light bulb and much more! Please note the footway over the dam will be shut from Monday to Friday next week for maintenance works. If you are walking please use the footbridge further down or alternatively if you have the car, you can park in our car park by heading through town following the signs for the Dam and Visitor Centre.

As we still have snow showers forecast locally all weekend, we will once again be operating on reduced hours tomorrow (Sunday 4th March). We will be open at 10am and last entry will be at 3pm. The cafe will still be offering it's full menu should you require something to warm you up whilst you are out! A milder day today means we have clearer paths and roads locally but please do remember to take extra care underfoot, as some areas still have substantial snow or ice about! On Monday 5th March we hope to be back open with our usual hours from 9.30am till 5.30pm with last entry at 5pm and last orders in the cafe at 4.30pm. We will update on here should there be any changes!

Snow showers are still forecast over the weekend in the local area! Please do take extreme care if you are out locally as whilst all roads have been treated, strong winds and frequent snow showers are still an ongoing issue. This unfortunately does mean snow can still be underfoot. Due to the weather conditions we are open today (Saturday 3rd March) but on reduced hours. We’re open till 3pm for warming drinks, homemade lunches and delicious home baking. ☕🍰

After assessing the weather and road conditions this morning, the Visitor Centre will not be opening today (Friday 2nd March) this is to ensure the continued safety of all our customers and staff. Stay safe and please do take extreme care if you do venture out today into this weather as a lot of local paths and roads are still currently untreated!! We hope to be open again tomorrow and will be on reduced hours of 10am to 3pm. If there is any changes we will update on here!!

After evaluating the path and road conditions and with more snow still forecast for today we have taken the decision to close the Visitor Centre today (Thursday 1st March) to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. We are planning to open with restricted hours on Friday 2nd March from 10am to 3pm but we'll update you on here if there are any changes! If you are venturing out today please ensure you do take extreme care!!
