Our craft co-operative is made up of over 20 talented craftworkers and artists, mainly from the Penicuik area. Our craft co-operative is made up of over 20 talented craftworkers and artists, mainly from the Penicuik area, who have set up a craft shop in the building owned by the Penicuik Community Arts Association. A rota of members mind the shop and give information to members of the public who come in to browse. Because our overheads are low, we are able to sell our craft work at the makerís price and not at the inflated prices which larger shops must charge. This is something we stress in our advertising and many customers know that it is of benefit to themselves as well as to our local craftworkers. There is always a happy, friendly atmosphere and you are welcome to have a coffee or snack in the cafe downstairs, and then a browse and a chat in our shop

Crafts we sell include: silk batik, pottery, herbal products, dried flowers, knitwear, hand painted silk items, jams, honey, hand made cards, watercolours, wooden articles and stained glasswork.

Many of our members take commissions and will do their best to satisfy any special requests from customers.

Anyone who would like to join the co-operative can leave samples of their work (packaged and priced as it would be in the shop)along with their name and a contact telephone number. Co-op members are given a chance to examine the work, and to vote whether it should be accepted.

We also hold two craft fairs each year, for which work can be submitted.
