It’s with a sad heart I offer the news of the passing of one of my favourite lady pupils. Maggie B was a regular member of Delapre and my Thursday morning coaching sessions. She slipped away peacefully after a short illness yesterday evening. She will be sadly missed by many at the club. A warm and kind person and always made me laugh. She loved her golf and am sure she’ll be quickly showing off to everyone in heaven her new chipping technique but only after a quick fag. RIP Maggie. I feel lucky to have known you.

I will be closed for business for the next couple of weeks. Flying out to Portugal to have another pop at trying to gain one of the five elusive European exempt tour cards. Back coaching as from the 4th February. Limited spaces still available that week. Not sure if I’m taking enough wedges though!!!!😄

Many of my pupils have reached new milestones in 2018 and it’s been a real joy being involved with their success. Eleven club champions have graced my teaching bay this year, but it’s the players who have reached their personal best handicaps that has given me the most pleasure. In regards to my own game, narrowly missing my tour card at the start of the season was a blow, but has made me focused on becoming fitter, a better player and even more determined to get back out there on the big stage. Seeing my friends and piers gain their tour cards in 2018 and going on to have multiple wins on tour motivates me even more. Finishing the year leading the order of merit in the NPGA 2018 winter series, hopefully bodes well for me going into January’s European Seniors Tour School. Thank You all for your continued custom and support throughout the year. Looking forward to working with you in 2019 and improving your games further. Best wishes to you all. Great day today playing in the Captain v vice captain team competition. Played in recognition to our green staff for there fabulous work this season. Consistently good greens all year. Tomorrow is the start of hollow tining and top dressing. Seems a shame but it's a small price you pay if want surfaces as good as these.

Congratulations to Leah Ribano for winning the American golf junior champs at Gainsborough best gross title shooting 75 (+3). A great result for a dedicated pupil. From 23 handicap to 5.7 in 18 months is outstanding 👏🏆
